Bruce W. Warren
Bruce W. Warren is a professor of archeology at Brigham Young University. He holds a Ph.D. in the subject from the University of Arizona. He coauthored ''The Messiah in Ancient America'' with Thomas Stuart Ferguson, although it is more accurate to say Warren completed this book several years after Ferguson's death. Warren wrote his Ph.D. at the University of Arizona on the socio-cultural development of the central depression of Chiapas. Warren also wrote ''New Evidences of Christ in America'' with Blaine M. Yorgason and Harold Brown. Warren is a Latter-day Saint. Archaeology or archeology is the scientific study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. The archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites, and cultural landscapes. Archaeology can be considered both a social science and a branch of the humanities. Brigham Young University (BYU, sometimes referred to colloquially as The Y) is a private research university in Provo, Utah. Thomas Stuart Ferguson
Thomas Stuart Ferguson (May 21, 1915 – March 16, 1983) was an American lawyer, a Mormon and an amateur archaeologist who dedicated his life to finding archeological evidence of the Book of Mormon in Mesoamerica. He was instrumental in the foundation of the New World Archaeological Foundation. He initially believed that the history of Mesoamerican cultures provided support to the historicity of the Book of Mormon, but towards the end of his life came to the conclusion that the Book of Mormon was a work of fiction rather than a historical book. Latter-day Saint
Mormons are a religious and cultural group related to Mormonism, the principal branch of the Latter Day Saint movement started by Joseph Smith in upstate New York during the 1820s. After Smith's death in 1844, the movement split into several groups following different leaders; the majority followed Brigham Young, while smaller groups followed Joseph Smith III, Sidney Rigdon, and James Strang. New World Archaeological Foundation
The New World Archaeological Foundation (NWAF) is an archaeological organization run by Brigham Young University. When founded it was the largest archeological project funded by a religious institution. It was founded by Thomas Stuart Ferguson who sought to show how the history of Mesoamerican cultures proved the historicity of the Book of Mormon. Ferguson however found evidence to the contrary and from 1961 he kept a low profile as a secretary to the foundation which then became associated with the Brigham Young University and renamed as the BYU-NWAF.
