Bruce Lindsay (footballer)
Bruce A. Lindsay (born 22 July 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Lindsay made his SANFL debut in 1978 and won West Torrens' best and fairest award in just his second season. A serious knee injury in the 1980 Elimination Final interrupted his career for the next two years. He was club captain from 1984 until 1990, thus having the distinction of leading West Torrens in their final year before merging with Woodville. In 1990 he joined the Crows as a foundation player and took part in their inaugural league game, an 86-point win over that season's eventual premiers Hawthorn at Football Park. West Torrens Football Club
West Torrens Football Club was an Australian rules football club that competed in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) from 1897 to 1990. In 1991, the club merged with neighbouring Woodville Football Club to form the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles. With the proposed introduction of representative Districts for clubs in the SAFA the Native Club in 1896 derived its name from Electoral district of West Torrens and based itself in the western suburbs of Adelaide, around the western reaches of the River Torrens. Club history A precursor club in the district was the West Adelaide Football Club (1878–1887) that was founded in 1878 as the West Torrens and dissolved after just one season in the SAFA after changing its name to West Adelaide and wearing colours of Red, White and Blue in 1887. 1987 International Rules Series
The 1987 International Rules Series was the third series between Gaelic footballers from Ireland and Australian rules footballers from Australia. The series took place in Ireland and consisted of three test matches between the Australian and Irish international rules football teams. Australia won the series 2–1 and by 27 over the three test matches. Eugene McGee was in charge of the Irish team, while Seán McCague was his assistant manager.
