Bruce Chambers (American Football)
Bruce Chambers is an assistant athletic director at Arlington ISD and an American football coach. He most recently served as an assistant to Charlie Strong at the University of Texas at Austin, and was the only member of the coaching staff retained from Mack Brown's staff. Previously he served as coach at David W. Carter High School in Dallas, Texas. After being dismissed from the staff on December 31, 2014, Chambers was hired by Arlington ISD as assistant athletic director. Chambers played wide receiver at the University of North Texas under Jerry Moore, Bob Tyler and Corky Nelson. He then became coach at Dallas Carter High School, coaching the freshmen and junior varsity before becoming varsity assistant to Freddie James in 1989. In 1996 Chambers succeeded James as head coach, but chose to leave the school after two seasons for an assistant job at Texas. North Texas Mean Green Football
The North Texas Mean Green football program is the intercollegiate team that represents the University of North Texas in the sport of American football. The Mean Green compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference. They are coached by Eric Morris, who was hired as the new head coach of the Mean Green on December 13, 2022. North Texas has produced 24 conference championship titles, with twelve postseason bowl appearances and four appearances in the former I-AA (now Football Championship Series) Playoffs. Corky Nelson
Corky Nelson (February 25, 1939 – November 17, 2014) was an American football player and coach. He is known for his coaching stint at the University of North Texas, but was more successful on the high school level. Nelson was an all-conference center and linebacker at Texas State University–San Marcos, where he was captain of the 1963 team that went undefeated. He began coaching at the high school level soon after his graduation, first at Alamo Heights High School as an assistant, then at Harlandale High School as head coach. He briefly got into the collegiate ranks as defensive line and linebacker coach at the University of North Texas, but left after one season. In 1971, Nelson became head coach at John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. Geoff Swaim
Geoff Swaim (born September 16, 1993) is an American football tight end for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas and was selected in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Swaim has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. Jermichael Decorean Finley (born March 26, 1987) is a former American football tight end. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. With the Packers, he attended the Super Bowl XLV win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, not participating due to injury. He played college football at Texas. Oliver Edward "Bo" Scaife, III (born January 6, 1981) is a former American football tight end. He was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. John David Thomas (born July 5, 1983) is a former American football tight end who played in the National Football League (NFL). Roosevelt Leaks
Roosevelt Leaks Jr. (born January 31, 1953) is a former All-American running back and 2005 inductee to the College Football Hall of Fame. He was the first black All-American player in University of Texas history and went on to play in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts and Buffalo Bills. Fred Akers
Fred Akers (March 17, 1938 – December 7, 2020) was an American college football player and coach. He served as head football coach at the University of Wyoming (1975–1976), the University of Texas at Austin (1977–1986), and Purdue University (1987–1990), compiling a career college football record of 108–75–3. Cedric Myron Benson (December 28, 1982 – August 17, 2019) was an American professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL).
