''Brownstoner Magazine'' began as "a Brooklyn-based website" and in 2017 added a printed edition. Founder Victoria Schneps-Yunis's company, Schneps Communications, "operates some 20 print newspapers, 10 digital publications and employs about 90 staff members." History Weblog ''Brownstoner'' began as a blog in 2004. A "sister" site named ''Queens Brownstoner'' was begun in 2013 by Brownstoner founder Jonathan Butler, who also launched Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg. One of ''Brownstoners bloggers, "a lay historian who writes eight times a week about Brooklyn architecture," also contributes to Brownstoner's "of the day" ''award'' feature and does "one post a month to introduce the charms of" upstate New York architecture (where she has lived since 2012). BlankSlate ''Brownstoner'' was acquired by ''BlankSlate'' in 2015 after "10 years and more than 42,000 blog posts." Brooklyn Flea
Brooklyn Flea is a company based in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 2008 by Jonathan Butler, creator of Brownstoner Magazine, and Eric Demby, the former communications director for Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Flea runs several of the largest flea markets on the East Coast of the United States. Description Featuring hundreds of vendors of antique and repurposed furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles and antiques, the flea also offers new jewelry, art, crafts, and apparel by local artisans and designers, as well as local food. From early April until late November, the flea markets are located at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene on Saturdays and at the Williamsburg waterfront on Sundays. During the winter months, the Flea moves indoors to a space in Industry City. Average daily attendance for each market is four to five thousand people.
