Brown And Carney
Brown and Carney was a comedy duo consisting of Wally Brown and Alan Carney active from 1943 to 1946. Notes Both actors were under contract with RKO Radio Pictures. The two actors appeared in three films in 1943 when RKO decided to team them together as their answer to Abbott and Costello. Brown and Carney's first film as a team was ''Adventures of a Rookie'', which has some similarities to Abbott and Costello's 1941 film ''Buck Privates''. RKO Pictures sent Brown and Carney on a vaudeville tour together in 1944.Maltin 1970, p. 337 Brown's screen character is usually "Jerry Miles" and Carney's is usually "Mike Strager." Wally Brown
Wallace Edgar Brown (October 8, 1904 – November 13, 1961) was an American actor and comedian. In the 1940s, he performed as the comic partner of Alan Carney. Early years Wallace Edgar Brown was born in Malden, Massachusetts, the son of Herbert and Lillian (Garnier) Brown. His father was a compositor for the ''Malden Evening News''. Brown left Malden High School during his junior year, but he later graduated from Malden Commercial Business School and took courses at Chicago University. Before his career in entertainment began, he worked at a drug-store soda fountain in Malden, was a second chef at a hotel in York Beach, Maine, and was a printer's devil at a print shop in Boston, among other jobs. Lionel Alfred William Atwill (1 March 1885 – 22 April 1946) was an English stage and screen actor. He began his acting career at the Garrick Theatre. After coming to the U.S., he subsequently appeared in various Broadway plays and Hollywood films. Wheeler & Woolsey were an American vaudeville comedy double act who performed together in comedy films from the late 1920s. The team comprised Bert Wheeler (1895–1968) of New Jersey and Robert Woolsey (1888–1938) of Illinois. Collaboration and background The Broadway theatre performers were initially teamed as the comedy relief for the 1927 Broadway musical '' Rio Rita'', and came to Hollywood to reprise these roles for the film version. Monte Brice
Monte Brice (July 12, 1891 – November 8, 1962) was a writer, producer, and director of films in the United States. In 1926, he was promoted from scenario writer to director and given a five-year contract with Famous Players-Lasky. A 1928 article states he had left Paramount and was freelancing. In the later years of his decades long career in film he worked with Bob Hope. Brice was best known as gag writer who worked on Hope's radio and film scripts. He married Doris Hill. Brice had two daughters and three grandchildren. He died in London while working with Hope on film projects.
