Brovst
Brovst is a town in North Jutlandic Island, North Jutland, Denmark. It is located in Jammerbugt Municipality, 16 km east of Fjerritslev, 14 km southwest of Aabybro and 2 km east and northeast of the villages of Ny Skovsgård and Skovsgård. Until 1 January 2007 Brovst was the seat of the former Brovst Municipality. History Brovst is first mentioned in 1458 as ''Brosth''. A train station was built in Brovst in 1897, and Brovst was a stop on the Fjerritslev-Nørresundby railroad throughout the railroad's history. When the railroad was shut down in 1969, Brovst Station was also closed. Brovst Municipality
Until January 1, 2007 Brovst Municipality was a municipality (Danish language, Danish: ''List of municipalities of Denmark (1970–2006), kommune'') in the former North Jutland County, on the North Jutlandic Island, bordering the Limfjord to the south and the North Sea to the north. The municipality covered an area of 222.72 km2, and had a total population of 8,281 (2006). Its last mayor was Mogens Christian Gade, a member of the Venstre (Denmark), Venstre political party. Brovst Municipality bordered Fjerritslev Municipality to the west, Pandrup Municipality to the north and Aabybro Municipality to the east. The municipality ceased to exist as the result of Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform 2007, ''Kommunalreformen 2007'' (the Municipality Reform of 2007). Jammerbugt Municipality
Jammerbugt Municipality is a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in the North Jutland Region on the North Jutlandic Island. It is located along the coast of Skagerrak to the north and the Limfjord to the south. It borders the municipalities of Thisted, Vesthimmerland, Aalborg, Brønderslev and Hjørring. Jammerbugt Municipality was formed during the municipal reform of 2007, when the municipalities of Brovst Municipality, Fjerritslev Municipality, Pandrup Municipality and Aabybro Municipality were merged. Since the municipality's foundation in 2007 the mayor has been Mogens Christian Gade of the Venstre party. Mogens Christian Gade was also the mayor of Brovst Municipality since 2002 and until it was dissolved in 2007. Aabybro
Aabybro or Åbybro is a town in North Jutland, Denmark. The town is the seat of Jammerbugt Municipality, and is the biggest town in the municipality. Aabybro is located 17 km southwest of Brønderslev, 16 km northwest of Aalborg and 30 km northeast of Fjerritslev. History Aabybro was a railway town from 1897 until 1969. Before the construction of the station, there was a very small settlement in the area. The station brought more traffic and expanded the town. It was a stop on the Hjørring-Løkken-Aabybro rail, which operated between 1913 and 1963. Aabybro was formerly the seat of Aabybro Municipality. Nicolaj Ritter (born 8 May 1992) is a Danish footballer, who plays as a left-back for FC Fredericia. Club career Silkeborg IF On 17 May 2011 it was confirmed, that Ritter had joined Silkeborg IF on a 2-year deal. Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen
Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen (born 4 May 1983 in Brovst) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for the Social Democrats. She has been the Minister for Culture and Ecclesiastical Affairs since 2021. She was elected member of Folketinget for the Social Democrats in 2011. She was appointed Minister of Higher Education and Science in the Frederiksen Cabinet from 27 June 2019. On 16 August 2021, the former Minister of Church and Ecclesiastical Affairs Joy Mogensen resigned and Halsboe-Jørgensen took over the position. Hans Nielsen (speedway Rider)
Hans Hollen Nielsen (born 26 December 1959) is a Danish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1977 to 1999. Nielsen is notable for winning four Speedway World Championship titles. During his career, he won a total of 22 World Championships, making him arguably the most successful speedway rider of all time. In 2012, Nielsen was named an FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. He later managed the Danish national team. Career Nielsen was born in Arentsminde near Brovst, Denmark. He was one of, if not the most successful riders the sport has ever seen. North Jutlandic Island
The North Jutlandic Island (), Vendsyssel-Thy, or Jutland north of the Limfjord (''Jylland nord for Limfjorden''), is the northernmost part of Denmark and of Jutland. It is more common to refer to the three traditional districts Vendsyssel, Hanherred and Thy, however. The area has been intermittently a tied island, and during modern times was not surrounded by water until a storm in February 1825, which severed the region from the remainder of Jutland and caused a water connection between the North Sea and the western end of the Limfjord. Hence it is traditionally regarded as a part of Jutland rather than a separate island. Geographically, it is the second largest island of Denmark after Zealand (excluding Greenland) with a population of 294,424 on 1 January 2020. 309,834 lived on the island in 1981. Fjerritslev
Fjerritslev is a town in North Jutland, Denmark. It is located in Jammerbugt Municipality, 13 km north of Løgstør, 37 km northeast of Thisted and 30 km southwest of Aabybro. Until 1 January 2007 Fjerritslev was the seat of the former Fjerritslev Municipality. History Fjerritslev is mentioned in 1487 under the name Fieridsleff. Until the middle of the 1800s Fjerritslev only consisted of a series of spread-out houses and farms. A tavern was built in Fjerritslev in 1840, which began the expansion of the town. Following the tavern was other establishments, including a post office, bank, school and brewery. With the construction of the train station in 1897, the town began to rapidly expand. During the German occupation of Denmark in 1940-45 multiple buildings in the town was occupied by the Germans. The North Jutland Region ( da, Region Nordjylland), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions.
