Brotherhood Of Man (1912 Film)
Brotherhood of Man are a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s. They won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with " Save Your Kisses for Me". Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song "United We Stand". By 1973 the concept had run its course and Hiller formed a definite four-member line-up consisting of Martin Lee (born Martin Barnes 26 November 1946 in London), Lee Sheriden (born Roger Pritchard 11 April 1944 in Bristol), Nicky Stevens (born Helen Maria Thomas 3 December 1949 in Carmarthen and Sandra Stevens (born 23 November 1944 in Leeds). John Goodison (musician)
John Kenneth Goodison (born 1943 Coventry, Warwickshire, England died September 3, 1988 Coventry, England) who first appeared as Johnny B. Great, was an English rock musician, songwriter and record producer. He was best known as vocalist for his later project Big John's Rock and Roll Circus, which had a number 1 hit in South Africa. He also used the pseudonyms Peter Simmons and Peter Simons for co-writing songs for such as The Brotherhood of Man; Goodison was in the Brotherhood's original line-up from its foundation in 1969, co-writing and performing its 1970 chart hits "United We Stand" and "Where Are You Going to My Love" as well as other songs before leaving the group in 1971. In 1975 he co-wrote and co-produced The Bay City Rollers' second No. 1 " Give a Little Love" with Phil Wainman, and Status Quo had a Top 40 hit in 1988 with "Who Gets The Love", co-written by Goodison and Pip Williams. ''The Brady Bunch Hour'' is an American variety show featuring skits and songs produced by Sid & Marty Krofft Productions in association with Paramount Television. It ran on ABC from November 28, 1976, to May 25, 1977. The series starred the original cast members of ''The Brady Bunch'', with the exception of Eve Plumb, who was replaced by Geri Reischl (a.k.a. "Fake Jan"). The show began as a 60-minute special titled ''The Brady Bunch Variety Hour'' on November 28, 1976. Edison Lighthouse are an English pop band, formed in London in 1969. The band was best known for their 1970 hit single "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" recorded in late 1969. Career Before the name Edison Lighthouse, they were known as the soft rock band Greenfield Hammer, gigging on the home counties circuit. The original line-up of Edison Lighthouse consisted of Tony Burrows (lead vocalist), Stuart Edwards (lead guitar), David Taylor (bass guitar), George Weyman (drums), and Ray Dorey (guitar). "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" is the debut single by Edison Lighthouse. The song reached the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart on the week ending 31 January 1970, where it remained for a total of five weeks. It also became the first number one single of the 1970s (not counting Rolf Harris's "Two Little Boys" which was a holdover from 1969). Background "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" was written by Tony Macaulay and Barry Mason and was first recorded by Tony Burrows with session musicians. "Love Grows" entered the UK top 40 at No. 12 on 24 January 1970 – an unusually high new entry for a debut act. A week later, the track climbed eleven places to No. 1, becoming the first new UK chart-topper of the 1970s. "Melting Pot" is the 1969 debut single from UK pop group Blue Mink. The song was written by Blue Mink's lead singer Roger Cook and long-time songwriter partner Roger Greenaway. The song peaked at number three in the UK Singles chart in the first week of 1970, number 10 in Australia, and also reached number 11 in Ireland. "Melting Pot" did best in New Zealand, where it spent three weeks at number 2. It became the opening track on the group's 1969 debut album, also titled ''Melting Pot''. While the song has assimilationist undertones, it is generally considered a plea for racial harmony. "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" is a song written by Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook (songwriter), Roger Cook. Originally recorded by David and Jonathan (band), David and Jonathan, and then Gene Pitney in 1967, the latter's version of the song reached No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart in December 1967, but failed to chart in the United States. Sue and Sunny were a British vocal duo and session singers operating in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Although sisters, their stage names were Sue Glover and Sunny Leslie. For three years (1969-1972) they were members of British pop group The Brotherhood of Man. Career Born Yvonne Weetman ('Sue') and Heather Weetman ('Sunny') in Madras, India, they made their recording debut together in 1963 under the name The Myrtelles, with their cover version of Lesley Gore's "Just Let Me Cry" on the independent Oriole record label. The single was not commercially successful. The girls then released two singles under the name of Sue and Sunshine before settling on the name Sue and Sunny. It was first released in 1970 by the Brotherhood of Man (in their original, pre-Eurovision line-up), becoming the band's first hit, peaking at #13 in the U.S., #9 in Canada, and #10 in the U.K. The song spent 15 weeks on the charts, and is ranked as the 64th biggest U.S. hit of 1970.
