Brookpark (RTA Rapid Transit Station)
Brookpark station is a station on the RTA Red Line located on the borders of Brook Park and Cleveland, Ohio, USA. It is located along Brookpark Road (Ohio State Route 17), west of the intersection of Henry Ford Boulevard ( Ohio State Route 291) and east of the intersection of the Berea Freeway (Ohio State Route 237). It is the westernmost station on the RTA Rapid Transit that includes free parking, and it is the second busiest station on the RTA Rapid Transit system, after Tower City. History The four-mile extension of the CTS Rapid Transit from West Park station to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport was opened in November 1968, but the Brookpark Station was not opened when this extension was opened. Ohio State Route 17
State Route 17 (SR 17) is an east–west highway in Northeast Ohio running from North Olmsted at State Route 10 to State Route 43 in Bedford Heights. The entire route has been paralleled by Interstate 480 and has junctions with this interstate via numerous cross streets such as Clague Road, Tiedeman Road, and Warrensville Center Road, and also via State Route 94 (State Road) and State Route 14 (Broadway Avenue). Tower City Center is a large mixed-use facility in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio, on its Public Square. The facility is composed of a number of interconnected office buildings, including Terminal Tower, the Avenue shopping mall, Jack Cleveland Casino, Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, Chase Financial Plaza, and Tower City station, the main hub of Cleveland's four RTA Rapid Transit lines. Cleveland Engine
Cleveland Engine is a Ford Motor Company engine manufacturing facility in Brook Park, Ohio, United States, a suburb of Cleveland. It consisted of two distinct plants until one was closed in 2012. Plant 1 Opened in 1951, Cleveland Engine Plant number 1 was the site of production for Ford's first overhead valve engine, the Lincoln "Y-block" V8. It also produced many of the "5.0" V8 engines used through the 1980s and 1990s, with the last produced in 2000. The demise of the 5.0 was to also be the end for CEP1, but Ford instead invested $350 million to refurbish it to handle production of the Duratec 30 for the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. Ford idled the plant in May 2007. In 2009, Ford reopened Plant 1 with a $55 million investment in tooling to produce their new 3.5 L EcoBoost V6. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. It is the western terminus of the Red Line and is located off the lower level below the middle of the baggage claim level of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. West Park (RTA Rapid Transit Station)
West Park station is a station on the RTA Red Line in Cleveland, Ohio. It is located off Lorain Avenue just west of West 143rd Street in the West Park neighborhood. The station includes a large parking lot accessible from Lorain Avenue. The access road has been named Lloyd Peterson Lane. A station lobby building is located on the southeast side of the parking lot adjacent to the tracks. The station headhouse includes bus loading areas and also houses a training facility, which opened in 1983. The headhouse is connected to the platforms by a tunnel extending underneath the westbound track.
