Brooklyn Drill
Brooklyn drill is a regional subgenre of drill music, centered in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, that began as derivative of the drill music scene in Chicago and later became derivative of UK drill with its 808 percussion and sliding notes by producers from the UK drill scene. Brooklyn drill emerged around 2014 with the single "Hot Nigga" from the rapper Bobby Shmurda. Other early pioneers were rappers Rowdy Rebel, Bam Bino, Money Millz, Dah Dah and Curly Savv. It was again made popular in the mainstream in 2019 by the late Pop Smoke. With the success of his mixtapes ''Meet the Woo'' (2019) and Meet the Woo 2, ''Meet the Woo 2'' (2020), Pop Smoke introduced Brooklyn drill into the mainstream music industry. Drill Music
Drill is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in Chicago streets in the early 2010s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre and lyrically similar to the gangsta rap subgenre. Drill music progressed into the American mainstream circa 2012 following the success of rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, Fredo Santana, G Herbo, Lil Bibby, and King Louie who had many local fans and a significant internet presence alongside producer Young Chop. Sleepy Hallow
Tegan Joshua Anthony Chambers (born December 20, 1999), known professionally as Sleepy Hallow, is an American rapper and singer making Brooklyn drill music. Originally from Jamaica, Chambers grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn in New York City alongside frequent collaborator Sheff G. In 2018, he had his first breakthrough viral single with "Flows", which also featured Sheff G. In August 2020, his single "Deep End Freestyle" featuring Fousheé was certified platinum by the RIAA. In August 2021, his single "2055" peaked at number 51 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, becoming his highest-charting song. He is currently signed to Winners Circle Entertainment and RCA Records. Trap Music
Trap is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in the Southern United States during the 1990s. The genre gets its name from the Atlanta slang word "trap", a house used exclusively to sell drugs. Trap music uses synthesized drums and is characterized by complex hi-hat patterns, tuned kick drums with a long decay (originally from the Roland TR-808 drum machine), and lyrical content that often focuses on drug use and urban violence. It utilizes very few instruments and focuses almost exclusively on snare drums and double- or triple-timed hi-hats. "Whoopty" is the debut single by American rapper CJ. The song was initially self-released on July 30, 2020, before being re-released by Warner Records following his signing to the label. The song reached number 10 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in February 2021, as well as number three in the UK and the ''Billboard'' Global 200 top 10. It was produced by the Cypriot producer Pxcoyo and samples Arijit Singh's " Sanam Re" (2015).
