Brookland-Cayce High School
Brookland-Cayce High School is a public high school located in Cayce, South Carolina, United States. History The school was built in 1932. Named for the cities of Brookland (now West Columbia) and Cayce which it originally served, the school now serves parts of West Columbia, Cayce, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, and Gaston. It is a part of the Lexington County School District Two. When the high school first opened it was a segregated school. Brookland and Cayce were schools for whites. Over the years the schools joined together. It was founded in order to serve the communities across the Congaree River from Columbia. Kip Bouknight
Kip McKey Bouknight (born November 16, 1978) is an American professional baseball pitcher who most recently played with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. High school career Bouknight was born in Columbia, South Carolina and graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1997. He was selected as an All-Star by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association in his senior year. During a playoff match-up against Union High School that year, he threw a no-hitter. In 1995, his sophomore year, he was named as an honorable mention from South Carolina in the All-USA High School award. Dooley Womack
Horace Guy "Dooley" Womack (born August 25, 1939) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. A right-hander, he played all or part of five seasons in Major League Baseball from 1966 to 1970 for the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Seattle Pilots and Oakland Athletics, almost exclusively as a relief pitcher. He also played in the Cincinnati Reds minor league system for one season. Listed at tall and weighing 170 pounds, Womack was never a highly touted prospect, due in part to his unimposing size and fastball. "I admit", he once said, "I won't overpower anybody..."
