Brockley Hill Tube Station
Brockley Hill was a proposed London Underground station in the Brockley Hill area of north London. The planned location is in what is now Edgware Way Grassland close to Edgwarebury Park on the north side of the junction of Edgware Way / Watford Bypass ( A41), and Spur Road ( A410). This station was part of a 1930s extension project named the: Northern Heights. Where new extensions were to be made across the Northern Line. This, along with 2 other stations on the same route called Elstree South and Bushey Heath, would have opened. However, due to World War II, the project had to be scrapped by the organisation of the Green Belt. History Planning and construction The station was the first of three planned by London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) in 1935 to extend the Northern line from Edgware to Bushey Heath. The London Underground 1938 Stock was a London Underground tube stock design. A total of 1,121 cars were built by Metro-Cammell and Birmingham RC&W. An additional 173 cars were added to the fleet by the end of 1953, comprising 91 new builds (the 1949 Tube Stock), 76 conversions from Pre-1938 Tube Stock or 1935 Tube Stock, and six unconverted cars of 1935 Tube Stock, and the stock was used on the London Underground until 1988. Edgware, Highgate And London Railway
The Edgware, Highgate and London Railway was a railway in North London. The railway was a precursor of parts of London Underground's Northern line and was, in the 1930s the core of an ambitious expansion plan for that line which was thwarted by the Second World War. Parts of the line were closed in the 1950s and have since been removed. Establishment The company was established by a private act of parliament passed on 3 June 1862.
