Broadford is a small town in central Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 census, Broadford had a population of 4,076. The town is the headquarters of the Shire of Mitchell local government area and is approximately north of the state capital, Melbourne. Broadford lies on the major transport routes between Melbourne and Sydney. The town is bypassed to the east by the Hume Freeway and the railway line linking the two cities passes through Broadford. Broadford is built on the banks of Sunday Creek, a tributary of the Goulburn River. Broadford ( - "the mouth of the ford") is a village in the west of County Limerick in Ireland. It is part of the Roman Catholic parish of Dromcollogher-Broadford. In the 2016 census, the resident population of Broadford village was 276, and the population of the Broadford electoral division was 960. According to records, the village is relatively new, and was first recorded by cartographers in 1837. Prior to its current name, it was known as ''"Killaliathan"'' or ''"Killagholehane"''. This name derives from Killaliathan Church, located 1.6 km (1 mile) to the south, a medieval church now partially ruined. Isle of Skye (Broadford) Airfield (also known as Ashaig Airstrip or Broadford Aerodrome) is a small airfield on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, with a single runway. It is next to the hamlet of Ashaig, near the village of Broadford. History The airport was constructed by the Corps of Royal Engineers and opened in 1972 to serve as a gateway to the Isle of Skye. Loganair operated a scheduled service from the airfield to Glasgow from 1972. However this service was discontinued in 1988. No commercial services have existed since then, and the airfield is usually deserted. The airport is occasionally used by NHS Highland and the Scottish Ambulance Service for transferring patients to hospitals in Inverness or Glasgow. Broadford is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Kildare, Ireland, winners of two senior hurling and 16 senior camogie titles. It enlists players from a radius of twenty miles from the Boyne bridge in Edenderry, Leinster bridge in Clonard, Blackwater bridge in Enfield and Barney Bridge in Allenwood. Mick Moore was selected at full-forward on the Kildare hurling team of the millennium.
