Broadbeach Football Club
Broadbeach Australian Football Club, also known as the ''Broadbeach Cats'', is an Australian rules football club representing the suburb of Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. The club competes in the Queensland Australian Football League after having previously competed in North East Australian Football League. Its home ground is Subaru Oval - Nee Merrimac Oval. In the club's inaugural year in the QAFL the cats finished 4th but eliminated in the first round of the finals. The senior level won its first premiership in 1987 under coach Wayne Ling And captain Brian Rowe. The highest point of the club's history was in 1996 when the club won 3 of the Grades, Colts, Seconds and Firsts. Despite having been in existence since 1971, the Broadbeach Football Club has only competed at the top AFLQ level since 1997. Queensland Australian Football League
The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. Previously known as the Queensland Football League (QFL), Queensland Australian National Football League (QANFL), Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) and AFL Queensland State League (AFLQSL), the QAFL is the premier semi-professional competition in Queensland. Blake Erickson
Blake is a surname which originated from Old English. Joel Wilkinson
Joel Wilkinson (born 29 November 1991) is an Australian sportsman who has played professional Australian rules football and American football. He played 26 games as a defender for the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), where he was one of the club's underage recruits and played in the club's first season in 2011. Known as one of the best pound for pound athletes, he set numerous records at the AFL combine, including the 20-metre sprint and repeat 30-metre sprint test. Nathan Ablett
Nathan Ablett (born 13 December 1985) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Gold Coast and Geelong in the Australian Football League (AFL). A key forward, tall and weighing , Nathan is the youngest son of Gary Ablett Sr and the younger brother of Gary Ablett Jr. Although a standout junior footballer, Ablett chose not to play in the TAC Cup to avoid the media attention which accompanied the preceding careers of his father and brother. After spending a year playing in country leagues, Ablett agreed to sign for Geelong (his former club) under the league's father-son rule and was selected with the 49th overall pick in the 2004 AFL Draft. Ricky Petterd
Ricky Petterd (born 24 July 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Petterd was drafted to with the 30th overall pick in the 2006 national draft. He is a state representative footballer from Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, Queensland who made his senior debut with Melbourne in round 5 of 2007, where he had 22 disposals in the midfield and featured in the Demons best player list. He followed up his first game performance with an AFL Rising Star nomination in round 6. While with Melbourne he had a season-ending injury in round 14 of 2007 against Carlton. Luke McGuane
Luke McGuane (born 12 February 1987) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club and Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). McGuane is a key position player. He was drafted by Richmond with pick 36 in the 2004 national draft. He was recruited from Broadbeach in the (AFL Queensland State League). In a VFL game in 2007, playing for Coburg, he was struck by a falling goalpost in a bizarre incident. McGuane is the cousin of dual Collingwood best and fairest winner Mick McGuane. At the end of the 2013 season, he was delisted by Richmond. He then signalled an intention to return to Queensland under former Richmond assistant coach, Justin Leppitsch at the Brisbane Lions. David Hale (born 22 May 1984) is an Australian rules football coach and former player who is currently serving as an assistant coach with the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League. As a player, he played with the North Melbourne Football Club and Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League. Early life Hale was born in Hobart, Tasmania but moved to the Gold Coast, Queensland with his parents prior to his first birthday.
