Alfred Scott Broad
Alfred Scott Broad (1854 – 27 April 1929) was an Australian artist, regarded as the first black-and-white artist born in South Australia to be published. He was known as "Alf", and was often referred to as "A. Scott Broad" as though his surname was "Scott-Broad", and was often written that way. An adult daughter was the subject of an unsolved mystery disappearance. History Alf was born in Adelaide a son of James Broad (c. 1830 – 14 June 1895) coachbuilder then music warehouseman and organ builder, who arrived in South Australia on the ''Osceola'' on 4 April 1851. He studied at the South Australian School of Art and contributed drawings to ''Adelaide Punch'' from 1868, and ''The Lantern'' (later ''Quiz and The Lantern'') from 1874 to 1890. He set up a studio in his father's organ-building workshop on the corner of Gilles and Hanson streets. He was principal illustrator for ''The Portonian'' from 1871 to 1879. Chris Broad (cricketer)
Brian Christopher Broad (born 29 September 1957) is a former English cricketer and broadcaster who currently serves as a cricket official. As an opening batsman, he played 26 Test matches for England and scored six centuries, together with 34 One Day International matches with a respectable over 40 average. He is known largely for his feats during the 1986/87 Ashes series where he hit three centuries in consecutive Tests, and for his fiery demeanour at the crease. Broad's children are both involved in cricket. His son Stuart is a fast bowler who, like his father, represents both England and Nottinghamshire, while his daughter Gemma worked as a performance analyst with England's One-Day squad. Francis Alfred Broad
Francis Alfred Broad JP (1874 – 3 January 1956) was a Labour politician in the United Kingdom who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Municipal Borough of Edmonton during the years 1922–1931 and 1935–1945. One of the founder members of the Amalgamated Instrument Makers Trade Society, Broad was president when, in 1920, the union joined the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU). He remained a member of the AEU until his death, stating in the commons in 1931 that "... I have never been a paid officer of that union but I have 40 years membership in it". Perry Broad
Pery Broad, also Perry Broad (25 April 1921 – 28 November 1993) was a Brazilian non-commissioned officer in the ''Schutzstaffel'' (SS) active at Auschwitz concentration camp from April 1942 to 1945. He reached the rank of ''SS-Unterscharführer'' while working as a translator and stenographer in the camp headquarters. As a prisoner after the war, he wrote a historically valuable account of the camp's operation, dubbed the ''Broad Report''. Broad, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1921, came to Berlin with his mother at the age of five. He studied at the Technical University of Berlin and joined the ''Waffen-SS'' in 1941 as a foreigner. Detached on duty to Auschwitz, he requested a transfer to the ''Politische Abteilung'', where he conducted interrogations. Shane Thomas Broad (born 21 August 1974) is an Australian politician; a five-time national champion and Australian representative rower; and an agricultural scientist. Club and state rowing Broad started rowing at age 14 at the Ulverstone Rowing Club in north west Tasmania. When attending university in Hobart he moved to the Huon Rowing Club at Franklin in southern Tasmania, where most of his senior rowing was based. He was selected and rowed in Tasmanian representative men's lightweight fours contesting the Penrith Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships from 1995 to 2003. Stephen Broad (born 10 June 1980) is an English footballer, who played as a defender in the Football League for Southend United. He has also played for non-League clubs, Hayes, Kingstonian, Corinthian-Casuals and Sutton United.
