Bro Rhosyr
Bro Rhosyr is an electoral ward in the south of Anglesey, Wales, created in 2012. Bro Rhosyr includes the communities of Llanidan (Brynsiencyn), Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog (Gaerwen), Llanddaniel-fab and Llangristiolus. The ward elects two county councillors to the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Bro Aberffraw ward lies to the southwest while the Aethwy ward lies to the northeast. Canolbarth Môn borders to the north. Bro Rhosyr was created following the Isle of Anglesey electoral boundary changes in 2012, which created 11 multi-councillor wards from 40 single-councillor wards. The new ward replaced the former Llanidan county ward and parts of the wards of Bodffordd, Bodorgan and Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog which had each elected their own county councillor. Aethwy (electoral Ward)
Aethwy is the name of an electoral ward in the south of Anglesey, Wales, created in 2012. It contains the population centres of Menai Bridge and Llanfair PG. Aethwy covers the communities of Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll, Menai Bridge and Penmynydd. The ward elects three county councillors to the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Aethwy is bordered to the southwest by Bro Rhosyr and to the northeast by the Seiriol ward. The Aethwy ward was created following the Isle of Anglesey electoral boundary changes in 2012, which created 11 multi-councillor wards from 40 single-councillor wards. Rhosyr (cantref)
Rhosyr was the name of one of the three medieval cantrefs (meaning ''a hundred towns'') on the island of Anglesey, north Wales, in the Kingdom of Gwynedd. It lay on the southern side of the island facing the Menai Strait which separates Anglesey from the mainland. There are indications that Rhosyr existed as far back as the 6th century and the period of St Caffo and King Maelgwn Gwynedd. 2017 Isle Of Anglesey County Council Election
The 2017 Isle of Anglesey County Council election, to the Isle of Anglesey County Council was held on 4 May 2017 as part of the 2017 United Kingdom local elections. All 30 council seats were up for election. The previous full election took place in 2013 and the following one in 2022. Overall results Following the election Plaid Cymru gained two additional seats overall to become the largest party with 14 councillors. The Independents, ruling the council prior to the election, were reduced to 13 councillors. Previous Independent Group leader, Ieuan Williams, stood down from this position prior to the election. Bodorgan
Bodorgan is a village and community (Wales), community on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales, United Kingdom. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, 2001 Census, there were 1,503 residents in the now former Wards of the United Kingdom, electoral ward, 72.7% of them being able to speak Welsh language, Welsh. This increased to 1,704 at the 2011 Census but only 67.72% of this increased population were Welsh speakers. The village is served by Bodorgan railway station, which is located near the hamlets of Bethel, Anglesey, Bethel and Llangadwaladr to the north-west, which are in the community, as is Malltraeth. Bodffordd
Bodffordd () is a village and community in central Anglesey, Wales. As of the 2011 census, the community's population was 960. The community includes the hamlets of Trefor, Heneglwys and Bodwrog. Description and history Bodffordd is located just under from the county town of Llangefni, on the south western edge of the reservoir, Llyn Cefni. It is the nearest settlement to RAF Mona and as a community council, it includes the village of Trefor. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, 77.9% of the population in the electoral division can speak the Welsh language; the 15-year-old age group has the highest number of speakers, in which 100% of the group can speak the Welsh language. The village was originally called Bodffordd Esgob, the Esgob indicating that it belonged to a bishop, the Bishop of Bangor in this case. The Isle of Anglesey electoral boundary changes in 2012 reduced the numbers of electoral wards to the Isle of Anglesey County Council from 40 to 11. This led to the postponement of local government elections in the county by 12 months. The changes were confirmed by the Isle of Anglesey (Electoral Arrangements) Order 2012 in October 2012. The changes were based on proposals by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales, after a review was ordered by the Welsh Government's Minister for Social Justice and Local Government, Carl Sargeant, in March 2012. The Commission proposed replacing the 40 electoral wards, which had elected one county councillor each, with eleven multi-member wards electing 30 county councillors in total. Bro Aberffraw is an electoral ward in the southern corner of Anglesey, Wales. It comprises the three communities of Aberffraw, Bodorgan and Rhosyr ( Newborough and Dwyran). Canolbarth Môn elects two county councillors to the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Bro Aberffraw was one of the eleven multi-councillor wards created following the Isle of Anglesey electoral boundary changes in 2012. Prior to this the Bro Aberffraw area was covered by a separate Rhosyr ward and the majority of an Aberffraw ward and Bodorgan county ward which each elected their own county councillor.
