Britt Tully
Brittany Tully (born 3 May 1993) is an Australian rules footballer and softballer. Tully plays for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL Women's competition and retired in 2021. She was drafted by Greater Western Sydney with their tenth selection and eightieth overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in the thirty-six point loss to at Thebarton Oval in the opening round of the 2017 season. She played every match in her debut season to finish with seven games and ranked second for tackles and third in clearances in the league. She placed 3rd in the GWS Best & Fairest Gabriel Trainor Medal in 2017. Tully won the best and fairest of AFL Canberra Women's for three consecutive years, between 2016 and 2018. Tully was listed as an inactive player for GWS for personal reasons in 2019 but has now been recontracted to resume with GWS for the 2020 season. In June 2021, she retired. Gungahlin Football Club
Gungahlin Jets Australian Football and Netball Club is an Australian sports club based in Gungahlin, Australian Capital Territory. The Australian rules football squad competes in the AFL Canberra first grade competition. The club has also a netball section. History The Gungahlin Jets were established in 1981 and entered the Monaro AFL division 2 competition in 1982. The club won the MAFL division 2 premiership in their first season. In 2014, the Liberal government withdrew a $66,000 grant for infrastructure funding provided by the previous Labor government, sparking a controversy. The club was burgled twice in a month; drinks and water bottles intended for fundraising were stolen, and on the second occasion, a television. The club anticipated fielding 400 players across senior, junior and women's divisions in the 2014 season. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. Best And Fairest
In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. In each game, the umpires award three votes to the player they judge to be the best afield in that game, two votes to the second-best player and one vote to the third-best player. The votes are counted at a gala function on the Monday preceding the Grand Final.
