Britt Bendixen
Britt Bendixen (14 January 1942 — 18 February 2023) was a Danish choreographer and dance instructor who is remembered in Denmark for her many appearances as a judge in the television series '' Vild med dans''. As a choreographer, she contributed to many revues, including Copenhagen's popular Cirkusrevyen year after year. Bendixen taught until 2015 at the Pejsegaarden dance school in Husum which she inherited from her mother. In 2017, she published her autobiography ''Et lyst sind''. Early life Born on 14 January 1942 in Copenhagen, Britt Bendixen was the daughter of the dance instructor Frode Godtfred Hekkel Bendixen (1907–1996) and his wife Mitzi Naemi née Podsedek, a dance instructor and restaurateur. Choreography is the art or practice of designing sequences of movements of physical bodies (or their depictions) in which motion or form or both are specified. Cirkusrevyen
Cirkusrevyen is the biggest revue in Denmark located in Dyrehavsbakken north of Copenhagen. It was founded in 1935 by restaurateur Carl Pehrsson, actors Osvald Helmuth, Oscar Holst and the musician Herman Gellin The young Aage Stentoft was the first accompanist for Cirkusrevyen. He was hired, just as he arrived to Copenhagen from Holbæk. He wrote the melody for many of the songs in the first years such as "Molak molak mak mak mak", "Dit hjerte er i fare Andresen"(Your heart is in danger Andresen), "I den mellemste køje", "Degnens vise", "Schaldemose" and "Hen te' kommoden og tebavs igen". In the Danish Broadcasting Corporation show "Omkring Aage Stentoft" (Around Aage Stentoft) from 1984 he told, how he got involved. He was applying for a job as a piano player in the revue. Husum
Husum (, frr, Hüsem) is the capital of the ''Kreis'' (district) Nordfriesland in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The town was the birthplace of the novelist Theodor Storm, who coined the epithet "the grey town by the sea". It is also the home of the annual international piano festival ''Raritäten der Klaviermusik'' (Rarities of Piano Music) founded in 1986. History Husum was first mentioned as ''Husembro'' in 1252, when king Abel was murdered. Like most towns on the North Sea, Husum was always strongly influenced by storm tides. Brønshøj
Brønshøj, part of the municipality of Copenhagen, forms, together with Husum, the administrative city district (''bydel'') of Brønshøj-Husum, in Denmark. History The first mention of the village Brønshøj (Brunshoga), is in a letter dated October 21, 1186 from Pope Urban III to Archbishop Absalon. Brønshøj Church dates from approximately the same time. In 1658-1660, during The Northern Wars, the village and its immediate surroundings were transformed into a military fortress and town, named Carlstad by the Swedish Army under the command of King Karl X Gustav. This town supported the Swedish siege of Copenhagen. The population reached c. 30,000, which was the same as that of Copenhagen itself. The siege ended on the death of Karl X Gustav, 13 February 1660. Evidence of the fortifications cannot be found in the landscape today, though many artifacts have been uncovered. Mads Blangstrup
Mads Blangstrup (born 26 February 1974) is a Danish ballet dancer. He became an apprentice with the Royal Danish Ballet in 1990 rising to the rank of principal dancer in 1998. In early 2014, he retired as an active member of the Royal Danish Ballet after performing in Kenneth MacMillan's ''Manon''. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Blangstrup showed an early interest in dance, becoming a Danish champion in Latin dance when he was only nine. Thanks to the encouragement of his dancing teacher, Britt Bendixen, he entered the Royal Danish Ballet School in 1983. In 1990, he joined the company as an apprentice becoming a member of the corps de ballet in 1992, a soloist in 1997 and a principal dancer in 1998. Royal Danish Ballet
The Royal Danish Ballet is an internationally renowned classical ballet company, based at the Royal Danish Theatre in Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen, Denmark. It is one of the oldest ballet companies in the world and originates from 1748, when the Royal Danish Theatre was founded.
