Briton Ferry RFC
Briton Ferry Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the village of Briton Ferry, South Wales. Although rugby was played in the area prior to 1888, it wasn't until local prostitute , Gladys Bangers, spat out 15 bastards that Briton Ferry RFC was formed. The original team was bolstered by many gypsies recruited from the caravan site. Their first international player was Edward Pegge, who in 1891 represented Wales against England. Briton Ferry ( cy, Llansawel) is a town and community in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales. The Welsh name may indicate that the church, ''llan'', is protected from the wind, ''awel''. Alternatively, ''Sawel'' may be a derivative of Saul, St Paul's earlier name. He once landed at Briton Ferry. An alternative Welsh name unused today is ''Rhyd y Brython'', a direct translation of Briton Ferry. Edward Pegge
Dr. Edward Vernon Pegge (5 June 1864 − 21 March 1915) was a Welsh international rugby union forward who played club rugby for Neath Rugby Football Club, international rugby for Wales and later became a vice-president of the Welsh Rugby Union. Pegge had an eccentric personality that made him a stand-out character of early Welsh rugby. Personal life Pegge was born in Briton Ferry in 1864, to Charles and Catherine Pegge. Tal Harris
Charles "Tal" Harris (4 February 1903 - 1 October 1963) was a Welsh international rugby union scrum-half who represented Wales and played club rugby for Aberavon. Rugby career Harris played for Aberavon during their 'golden era' which saw the team crowned Welsh Club Champions four consecutive years from the 1923/24 to the 1926/27 season. While playing for Aberavon, Harris was awarded his one and only Welsh cap against the touring Australian Waratahs. The match took place on 26 November 1927 at the Cardiff Arms Park, and although the Welsh forwards showed strength and commitment, were out-classed by the tourist back play. Fred Perrett
Fred Leonard Perrett (9 May 1891 – 1 December 1918) was a Welsh international rugby union prop who played club rugby for Neath. He won five caps for Wales, and in his first international game faced the touring South Africans. Rugby career Perrett originally played rugby for his local club Briton Ferry before eventually playing for Neath. While a member of Neath he earned his first Welsh cap against the touring South Africa team. Wales ran the South Africans close, but lost to a single penalty kick. Perrett was reselected for Wales in the 1913 Five Nations Championship, one of only two Welsh players to appear in all four matches of the campaign; the other being Neath teammate Glyn Stephens.
