British Rail Class 180
The British Rail Class 180 is a class of 14 diesel-hydraulic multiple-unit passenger trains manufactured by Alstom at its Washwood Heath factory in 2000/01 for First Great Western (FGW) . They are part of the Coradia 1000 family, along with the Class 175. All Class 180s are owned by Angel Trains. Operations of the fleet commenced with FGW during December 2001, being tasked with express commuter services that used its capability. However, the type suffered frequent service disruptions due to recurring technical problems, particularly in regards to its hydraulic transmission system. FGW ultimately decided to return all of its Class 180s to the lessor in favour of refurbished InterCity 125 sets; the last train leaving its service in 2009. Grand Central (train Operating Company)
Grand Central is an open-access train operating company in the United Kingdom. Presently a subsidiary of Arriva UK Trains, it has operated passenger rail services since December 2007. The company was founded in April 2000 as ''Grand Central Railway Company Ltd''. Three years later, the company applied to the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) to operate a two-hourly open-access service from Newcastle via the Caldervale Line and Manchester Victoria to Bolton, which was rejected. Automatic Warning System
The Automatic Warning System (AWS) was introduced in the 1950s in the United Kingdom to provide a train driver with an audible warning and visual reminder that they were approaching a distant signal at caution. Its operation was later extended to give warnings for; * A colour light signal displaying a double yellow (steady or flashing), single yellow or red aspect * A reduction in permissible speed * A temporary or emergency speed restriction * An automatic barrier crossing locally monitored (ABCL), an automatic open crossing locally monitored (AOCL), or an open crossing (OC). The British Rail Class 222 Meridian is a diesel-electric multiple-unit high-speed passenger train capable of . Twenty-seven sets were built by Bombardier Transportation in Bruges, Belgium. The Class 222 is part of the Bombardier Voyager family, so it is very similar to the Class 220 ''Voyager'' and Class 221 ''Super Voyager'' trains used by CrossCountry and Avanti West Coast. Hull Trains
Hull Trains is an open-access railway operator in England owned by the multinational transport company FirstGroup. It operates long-distance passenger services between Hull / Beverley and London King's Cross. It has a track-access agreement until December 2032. The Coradia 1000 is a type of Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) operating in Great Britain and which is part of the Alstom Coradia family of diesel and electric multiple units. Angel Trains
Angel Trains is a British rolling stock company (ROSCO). Together with Eversholt Rail Group and Porterbrook, it is one of the three original ROSCOs. British Rail Class 175
The British Rail Class 175 ''Coradia 1000'' is a type of diesel multiple-unit (DMU) passenger train operated by Transport for Wales Rail in the United Kingdom. The fleet of 27 sets was ordered from the French train manufacturer Alstom during July 1997 and were constructed between 1999 and 2001 at Washwood Heath, Birmingham. Based on the design of the Alstom Coradia Juniper family, early plans for some of the fleet to be ran at were in place but subsequently abandoned. Driver training and extensive testing of the new fleet was performed at the Old Dalby Test Track from November 1999.
