British Library Preservation Advisory Centre
The British Library Preservation Advisory Centre was established as the National Preservation Office by the British Library Board in 1984, and was renamed to the British Library Preservation Advisory Centre in 2009. During its existence it raised public awareness of preservation issues in libraries and served as a nexus for developing and promoting improved preservation management of library and archive materials in the UK and Ireland. The centre closed on 31 March 2014, and all publications and resources were transferred to the British Library Collection Care webpages. Digital Preservation Coalition
The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is a UK-based non-profit that works with global partners to provide the necessary resources to educate various public and private entities on the best practices for long term digital preservation. Background The origins of the DPC are rooted in a 1995 workshop put on by the Jisc, Joint Information Systems Committee and the British Library at the University of Warwick, focusing on how to approach the digital preservation. Research Libraries UK (RLUK) (formerly CURL) comprises 32 university libraries, 3 national libraries, and the Wellcome Collection in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Ronald Milne FRSE (born 14 February 1957) is a British librarian and administrator whose work has been particularly associated with the development of library research collections and with issues of digitisation of library materials. In 2006 he became a Fellow of The Royal Society of Edinburgh. National Digital Information Infrastructure And Preservation Program
The National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) of the United States was an archival program led by the Library of Congress to archive and provide access to digital resources. The program convened several working groups, administered grant projects, and disseminated information about digital preservation issues. The U.S. Congress established the program in 2000, and official activity specific to NDIIPP itself wound down between 2016 and 2018. The Library was chosen because of its role as one of the leading providers of high-quality content on the Internet. Archival science, or archival studies, is the study and theory of building and curating archives, which are collections of documents, recordings and data storage devices. To build and curate an archive, one must acquire and evaluate recorded materials, and be able to access them later.
