British Junior Open
The British Junior Open squash championship is considered the second most prestigious junior open squash championship after the World Junior Squash Championships. It is one of the five Tier 2 events in the WSF World Junior Squash Circuit. British Junior Open is divided into ten categories — Boys Under-19, Boys Under-17, Boys Under-15, Boys Under-13, Boys Under-11, Girls Under-19, Girls Under-17, Girls Under-15, Girls Under-13, and Girls Under-11. The Under-19 boys category was known as the Drysdale Cup before 1999; the Under-16 and Under-14 categories were both held prior to 1999, until being replaced by Under-15 and Under-17 categories respectively. The Under-13 categories were also introduced in the same year. The tournament moved to Birmingham from 2018 onwards, where the Under-11 categories were introduced. Ahmed Barada (born 25 April 1977 in Cairo) is an Egyptian former professional squash player. He finished runner-up at both the World Open and the Super Series Finals in 1999 (losing in both finals to Peter Nicol). Chris Tomlinson (squash Player)
Christopher George Tomlinson (born 15 September 1981) is a retired English long jumper. He is the former British long jump record holder and competed at the Olympics of 2004, 2008 and 2012. Career Born in Middlesbrough, Tomlinson began competing for Middlesbrough AC (formerly Mandale Harriers) at the age of 10, mostly over 100m and 200m. He attended Nunthorpe Secondary School, where he still holds many of its year group records for triple and long jump, before attending Prior Pursglove College in Guisborough. In his early teens Chris decided to concentrate on long jump. His major breakthrough came in 2002 when, just three months after breaking both wrists in a freak weight-training accident, he jumped 8.27 m to break the British record that had been held by Lynn Davies for 34 years. Paul Hargrave
Paul Hargrave (born 1938) is an American biochemist whose laboratory work established key features of the structure of rhodopsin. Career In 1970, Hargrave received a PhD from the University of Minnesota, where he studied with protein chemist Finn Wold. After post-doctoral work under William J. Dreyer at the California Institute of Technology, Hargrave joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University in 1973. In 1983, Hargrave and colleagues in his laboratory published the full amino acid sequence for rhodopsin, a photoreceptor protein, after having previously published partial sequences. The sequencing of rhodopsin was later described as a "monumental step" toward understanding the structure of rhodopsin. Simon Parke (born 10 August 1972 in Oakham, Rutland, United Kingdom) is a former professional squash player from England. Squash career Parke won the World Junior Squash Championship title in 1990. As a professional player, he broke into the world's top-20 in 1991, and the top-10 in 1995. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in December 1995, and underwent surgery in January 1996, followed by treatment which included chemotherapy. He returned to the professional squash circuit four months after his surgery. Peter Marshall (born 12 May 1971 in Nottingham, United Kingdom) is a former professional squash player from England. With his unique double-handed playing style, Marshall finished runner-up to the great Pakistani player Jansher Khan at the World Open in 1994 and the British Open in 1995. When he reached the World No. 2 ranking behind Jansher in November 1994, many observers felt he seemed a strong candidate to displace the aging Pakistani champion as World No. 1.
