The British Fencing Championships are held annually to determine the British champion. The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Ernest Stenson-Cooke
Ernest George Stenson-Cooke (5 October 1874 – 19 November 1942) was a British fencer. Biography From an early age Stenson-Cooke had been interested in military training and for some years was a member of the cadet corps attached to the London Rifle Brigade, where he became part of a club devoted to the reconstruction of historical fencing styles under the direction of Captain Alfred Hutton. Circa 1901 he also joined the Bartitsu Club. He retired from the L.R.B.(with the rank of Captain) in 1903. He competed in the individual Fencing at the 1912 Summer Olympics – Men's foil and Fencing at the 1912 Summer Olympics – Men's épée events at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. During World War I he served with 8th Essex Territorials, then as a staff captain at the War Office, and was later appointed Controller of Supplies under the Ministry of National Service. Bill Hoskyns
Henry William Furse "Bill" Hoskyns MBE (19 March 1931 – 4 August 2013) was a British fencer who appeared at six Olympic Games., Fencing career Hoskyns, born in London won two silver medals in 1960 and 1964 Olympic Games. No British fencer has won an Olympic medal since. He competed with all three weapons (doing so in the 1956 and 1964 Olympics) but he was especially effective at Épée, where he was 1958 World Champion. He is one of only five fencers to compete in at least six Olympic Games. He was eight times British champion, winning three foil, four epee and one sabre title at the British Fencing Championships. Only Edgar Seligman had previously achieved winning the British title with the three different weapons and his great rival, Allan Jay failed to win the sabre title. John Fethers
John Erle Fethers (4 December 1929 – 30 March 2010) was an Australian fencer. He competed in six events at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was a longstanding member and coach at the Melbourne-based VRI Fencing Club. On 10 October 2009 in recognition of a significant international fencing career, outstanding personal contribution to Australian fencing, and lasting legacy in the training and development of numerous coaches and Olympic athletes, he was inducted as a Living Legend to the VRI Hall of Fame. Raymond Rudolf Valentine Paul (21 November 1928 – 23 December 2013) was a British fencer. Fencing career He competed at the 1952 and 1956 Summer Olympics with the best individual result of eighth place in the foil in 1956. René Paul
Ronald René Charles Paul (20 January 1921 – 16 June 2008) was a British fencer. Fencing career He competed at four Olympic Games and won ten Commonwealth Games medals. He represented England and won two gold medals in the foil individual and team and a silver medal in the Épée team at the 1950 British Empire Games in Auckland, New Zealand. Sir Henry David Hardington Bartlett, 3rd Baronet (18 March 1912 – 13 September 1989) was a British fencer. Biography Bartlett was educated at Stowe School.
