British Columbia Premier Baseball League
The British Columbia Premier Baseball League, commonly referred to as the BCPBL or the PBL, is a competitive youth baseball league consisting of 13 teams located throughout British Columbia, Canada. Over the years, the BCPBL has served as a talent pipeline for Major League Baseball as numerous BCPBL players have been selected in the Major League Baseball entry draft and gone on to have successful careers in professional baseball. League History Known as the Island Premier Baseball League when it was founded in 1995, the league originally included only five teams, all from Vancouver Island: Victoria Investors, Victoria Selects, Mid-Island Canadians, Nanaimo Pirates and the Parksville Royals. Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". Ryan Dempster
Ryan Scott Dempster (born May 3, 1977), is a Canadian former professional baseball pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Florida Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and Boston Red Sox. Dempster batted and threw right-handed. He was both a starter and a reliever in his career. Larry Walker
Larry Kenneth Robert Walker (born December 1, 1966) is a Canadian former professional baseball right fielder. Tyler Alan O'Neill (born June 22, 1995) is a Canadian professional baseball left fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut on April 19, 2018. Rowan D. Wick (born November 9, 1992) is a Canadian professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the San Diego Padres. Career Amateur Wick attended Carson Graham Secondary School in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round of the 2010 MLB draft. South Surrey Athletic Park is a popular recreational park in the White Rock/South Surrey community. The park is bound by 18th avenue to the south, 148th street to the east, 24th avenue to the North and Sunnyside Urban Acres Forest to the west. White Rock Tritons
The White Rock Tritons are a high school baseball team located in South Surrey area of the City of Surrey, British Columbia, British Columbia. Although most of the Tritons players are from the White Rock and South Surrey communities, the team also attracts talent from other areas around the Lower Mainland such as Delta, Ladner and the rest of Surrey, as well as attracting high school players from Blaine, Washington. Newly appointed coach is Kyle Dhanani, former draft pick from Thompson University. Former coaches include Russ Smithson. Smithson is a Canadian Jr National Team graduate, and spent his college career on scholarship to El Paso CC in Texas, and the University of Kentucky. The team was founded in 1993, and joined the B.C.
