Brightside is an industrial area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England lying on a hill north of Attercliffe and the River Don. Brightside was recorded in the fifteenth century as "Brekesherth", when it was home to some mills. Brightside Bierlow was one of the six original divisions of the township of Sheffield, including all the land in the town north of the Don - reaching as far as the Wicker and Neepsend. The first work on the Sheffield and Rotherham Railway was the opening of a cutting in Brightside in 1837. Brightside railway station was opened along with the line in 1838, but closed in 1995. Now the nearest railway station is in Meadowhall (which geographically is in the Shiregreen and Brightside ward) just south of Wincobank. In the 1830s, the only industry in the village was a forge on the river bank. A guide produced for the opening of the railway described Brightside as being "...much frequented by pleasure parties from Sheffield. On every fine Sabbath espe ...

Brightside (Killing Time Album)
''Brightside'' was the first of three full-length albums released by New York hardcore band Killing Time. It was released in November 1989 on In Effect Records, a division of Relativity Records, and subsequently re-released in 1995 by Lost & Found Records in Europe, and Victory Records in the U.S. – both with bonus tracks. Both re-issue versions have three tracks from the ''Happy Hour'' EP released in 1992. The Victory Records re-issue also has material from the first Raw Deal demo made in 1988, of which five tracks were re-recorded for this album. The band had previously gone by the name of Raw Deal, until a threatened lawsuit by another band of the same name caused them to change their name as they were entering the studio to record this release. Their guitarist, Mike Sentkiewitz, left the band prior to recording to pursue a different musical direction. Many of the songs he helped pen, however, are included on this album. Shortly after the album was released, the band went ...

Brightside (Viva Saturn Album)
''Brightside'' is an album by the American alternative rock band Viva Saturn, released in 1995. It was the band's final album, as Restless Records chose not to release 1998's ''Ships of Heaven''. Production The album was produced by Matt Piucci and Steven Roback, former bandmates in the Rain Parade. It closes with a cover of " One for My Baby", a song made popular by Frank Sinatra; the cover first appeared on the Sinatra tribute album, ''Chairman of the Board: Interpretations of Songs Made Famous by Frank Sinatra''. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' thought that "the somber 'String Me Out a Line' conveys aching loneliness with haunting clarity, its gentle acoustic instrumentation and quiet vocal harmonies making it ''Brightsides most memorable track." ''Stereo Review'' called the album "a well-crafted slice of retro-psychedelic pop-rock." ''The Province'' opined that "as Piucci and Roback were members of Rain Parade, a major player in L.A.'s Paisley Underground scene of the ...
