Brighton Bar
The Brighton Bar was a famous punk club located at 121 Brighton Avenue in Long Branch, New Jersey. History Greg Macolino, a former Long Branch history teacher and former lead singer of hardcore band Chronic Sick, opened the Brighton Bar as a punk music venue in 1996. He was the sixth owner of the venue. The Brighton Bar was often compared to CBGB. During the 1980s, it was the home of the New Jersey punk movement that primarily focused on Mutha Records. Later in the 1990s, it hosted performances by notable punk and hardcore bands, including U.S. Chaos, Chronic Sick, Stisisim, Mental Decay, Social Decay, Mental Abuse, Broken Heroes, Kraut, The Stun Gunz, Void Control, the Graveyard School, Speed Crazy, the Cryptkeeper Five, and The Flair Up's, some who have shared the Brighton Bar's stage consistently for almost 30 years. Gene Loves Jezebel
Gene Loves Jezebel are a British rock band formed in the early 1980s by identical twin brothers Jay (born John) and Michael Aston. Gene Loves Jezebel's best-known songs include "Heartache", "Desire (Come and Get It)" (1986), "The Motion of Love" (1987), "Jealous" (1990), and "Break the Chain" (1993), as well as alternative club hits "Bruises" (1983), "Influenza (Relapse)" (1984), and "The Cow" (1985). WMCX (88.9 FM, The X 88.9) is a New Jersey college radio station with an Alternative Rock format. The studios and production facilities are located at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. History WMCX began broadcasting on 88.1 MHz from Monmouth University on May 2, 1974. At 10 watts, the station could only be heard within a radius of 2–3 miles. In September 17, 1987, the station moved to 88.9 MHz and increased power to 1,000 watts. Today, the station has a broadcast radius of approximately 15 miles in various towns located in Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey. Misfits (band)
The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the pioneers of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig, and drummer Manny Martínez. Jerry Only joined on bass guitar shortly after. Monster Magnet is an American rock band. Hailing from Red Bank, New Jersey, the group was founded in 1989 by Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar), John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin (vocals and drums); they have since gone through several lineup changes, leaving Wyndorf as the only constant member. Godspeed is an American metal band formed in 1992. Following the release of their debut album ''Ride (Godspeed album), Ride'' on Atlantic Records, the band embarked on two high-profile tours as the opening act for Black Sabbath and Dio (band), Dio. George Bernard Worrell, Jr. (April 19, 1944 – June 24, 2016) was an American keyboardist and record producer best known as a founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic and for his work with Talking Heads.
