Brigade La Fayette
The Brigade La Fayette, also named Task Force La Fayette, was a joint unit of the French forces in Afghanistan. It was officially created on 1 November 2009, along with a complete reorganisation of the French military deployment in Afghanistan. It comprised most of the French Army units involved in the ISAF. The unit was named in honour of Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette. Its headquarters is at Nijrab outpost, near Nijrab, in the Kapisa Province. It was headed by general Jean-Pierre Palasset. The mission ended on 25 November 2012. Organisation The Brigade La Fayette was responsible for the Surobi district and for the Kapisa Province. It operated under the US 1st Cavalry Division, which headed Regional Command East. Embedded Training Team
Embedded Training Teams or ETT is the term used by the US military since 2003 to describe conventional forces used to train and mentor Afghan forces (ANA and ANP primarily). They were formed in 2003 under Task Force Phoenix. Logar Province
Logar (Pashto/Dari: ; meaning Greater Mountain ( لوې غر)) is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan located in the eastern section of the country. It is divided into 7 districts and contains hundreds of villages. Puli Alam is the capital of the province. As of 2021, Logar has a population of approximately 442,037. It is a multi-ethnic tribal society, while about 65% of its residents are made up by Pashtuns whereas the remainder are Tajiks and Hazaras. A Military Transition Team or Transition Team, commonly abbreviated as MiTT, in the context of the United States Military, is a 10 – 15 soldier team that trains foreign national and local security forces. The term has been used in the "War on Terror" to designate groups training the Iraqi Security Forces in particular.
