Brigade 52 Offensive
The Daraa and As-Suwayda offensive (June 2015) (titled "The battle of the crushing of the tyrants" by the Southern Front) was launched in eastern Daraa Governorate during the Syrian Civil War, by the Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army and allied Islamic Front (Syria), Islamic Front rebel group against government positions in and around the 52nd Mechanized Brigade base (''Liwa 52''), which housed an infantry unit, an artillery battalion and a T-72 tank battalion. The offensive moved directly onto nearby al-Thula airbase in western As-Suwayda Governorate after the swift capture of Brigade 52. However, after initially managing to capture parts of the airbase, the rebels were forced to withdraw. 9th Armoured Division (Syria)
The 9th Armoured Division ( ar, الفرقة التاسعة المدرعة) is a division of the Syrian Army, established after 1970. Combat history As the 9th Infantry Division, it was heavily engaged during the 1973 October War, and in the Valley of Tears. In April 1976, it was announced by Kamal Junblatt, leader of the Lebanese National Movement, that the 91st Armoured Brigade had entered Lebanon. This was in addition to other Syrian forces that had entered previously. The RAC 112 APILAS (Armor-Piercing Infantry Light Arm System) is a portable one-shot 112 mm recoilless anti-tank weapon, designed in France by GIAT Industries. Over 120,000 of the APILAS launchers have been produced, and they are in service with many countries. Description The APILAS is supplied in an aramid fibre launcher tube with a retractable sight. The effective range of APILAS is from 25 m (it takes 25 m for the rocket to arm itself) up to 300-500 m depending on the target.
