Oudtshoorn (, ), the "ostrich capital of the world", is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, located between the Swartberg mountains to the north and the Outeniqua Mountains to the south. Bridgeton, Indiana
Bridgeton is an unincorporated community in Raccoon Township, Parke County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is notable for its covered bridge, which was destroyed on April 28, 2005, by a fire set by an arsonist. A historically accurate reconstruction of the bridge was completed in October, 2006. History Around 1823 a sawmill was built on the banks of Big Raccoon creek south of the Ten O'Clock Line by two men, Joseph Lockwood and Issac J. Sillman, for Joseph O'Niel and James Wasson. A buhrstone was added later to grind corn and wheat. Daniel Kalley and a James Searing would later buy the mill in 1837 from James and Mary Wasson for $1,600. Bridgeton is a compact neighborhood of detached houses, rowhouses, apartment and condominium complexes, and houseboats in the north and northeast sections of Portland, Oregon. It occupies a narrow strip of land around a levee between the Columbia River (North Portland Harbor) and Bridgeton Slough. In 1907, a one-room schoolhouse, the Columbia School, was constructed in the area. Between 1915 and 1930, housing was developed in the area, which was the terminus of the Vancouver Interurban streetcar line. Bridgeton Township is a township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,277 at the 2010 census. The township was originally a part of adjacent Nockamixon Township, but a division was arranged and signed on May 24, 1890. This accord split an area of Nockamixon which ran west from the banks of the Delaware River to approximately one third the breadth of the original township. This smaller area was named "Bridgeton", as it was the site of Upper Black Eddy-Milford Bridge covered wooden truss bridge built in 1842, which connected the towns of Upper Black Eddy and Milford, New Jersey. The original covered bridge was replaced by a truss bridge in 1933. The township originally contained several tiny hamlets, such as the aforementioned Upper Black Eddy, Narrowsville, and Rupletown. MV ''Bridgeton'', ex-''al-Rekkah'', was a Kuwait Oil Company oil tanker that was reflagged to a U.S flag and renamed during Operation Earnest Will. The ship was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in its Nagasaki shipyard and launched August 14, 1976. ''Bridgeton'' was part of the first Earnest Will convoy when it struck an Iranian mine near Farsi Island resulting in a major propaganda victory for the Iranians. In the late 1990s, ''Bridgeton'' transferred to Panamanian registry and was renamed ''Pacific Blue''. It was scrapped in 2002 at Haryana Ship Demolition in Alang, India. Ship history Ordered and built as ''al-Rekkah'', the ship was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in its Nagasaki shipyard and launched August 14, 1976.
