Bridget Calitz
Bridget Calitz (born 3 September 1997) is a South African international lawn bowler. She has represented South Africa at the Commonwealth Games and won a silver medal. Biography Calitz started bowling in 2011 and in 2019, she finished runner up in the singles at the South African National Bowls Championships. Calitz was selected for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she competed in the Lawn bowls at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – Women's triples, women's triples and the Lawn bowls at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – Women's fours, women's fours event, reaching the final and winning a silver medal. Along with Esme Kruger, Johanna Snyman, and Thabelo Muvhango they lost in the final 17-10 to India. The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. Lawn Bowls At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Lawn bowls was among the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, to be held in England. This was the twenty-first staging of lawn bowls at the Commonwealth Games having featured in every Games bar 1966, and the third staging within England specifically. The competition was scheduled to take place between 29 July and 6 August 2022, spread across eleven events (including three parasport events). The South African National Bowls Championships is organised by Bowls South Africa (BSA). The first National Singles Championships were held in 1897 in Kimberley despite the fact that the South African Bowls Association was not formed until 1904. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. The Games marked England's third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002, and the 7th Games held in the United Kingdom, with previous events in Wales and Scotland: Cardiff 1958, Edinburgh 1970 and 1986 and Glasgow 2014. Esme Hester Johanna Kruger (born 29 November 1971) is a South African international lawn bowler. Bowls career She was born in Pretoria, South Africa and was selected as part of the South African team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland where she claimed a silver medal in the Fours with Elma Davis, Johanna Snyman and Nicolene Neal. Johanna Anneke Snyman also known as just Anneke Snyman (born 6 May 1994) is a South African international lawn bowler. Biography She was born in Cape Town, South Africa and won the triples and fours bronze medals at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. She was selected as part of the South African team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland where she claimed a silver medal in the Fours with Elma Davis, Esme Kruger and Nicolene Neal. In 2019 she won the fours silver medal and triples bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2020 she moved clubs from Bredasdorp BC to Western Province Cricket Club. Biography Muvhango won a national title when winning the pairs with Colleen Piketh, at the 2021 South African National Bowls Championships. She was selected for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she competed in the women's triples and the women's fours event, reaching the final and winning a silver medal.
