Bridgecorp
Bridgecorp Holdings Ltd is a former high-risk property development group that was operating in New Zealand and Australia. It was placed in receivership in July 2007. History The company was originally listed on the New Zealand stock exchange as Bridgevale Mining and changed its name in 1987, the same year it acquired Toy Warehouse. Bridgecorp Holdings was delisted after the toy company—considered underperforming—was sold in 1992 and went into receivership the same year. Rod Petricevic effectively took control of Bridgecorp after it was delisted. He tried several times to relist the company, but was rejected by the NZX. In 2002, Bridgecorp Holdings was deregistered in New Zealand and moved its headquarters to Sydney, Australia. Bridgecorp Limited served as a subsidiary for New Zealand while Bridgecorp Finance Ltd was established as its Australian arm. Finance Company Collapses, 2006–2012 (New Zealand)
Between May 2006 and the end of 2012 there were sixty-seven finance company collapses in New Zealand; including companies entering into liquidation, receivership or moratoria. An inquiry by the New Zealand Parliament estimated losses at over $3 billion that affected between 150,000 and 200,000 depositors. The most high-profile collapses were South Canterbury Finance, Hanover Finance and Bridgecorp Holdings. The collapse radically reduced the size and importance of the non-bank finance sector in New Zealand. According to the Reserve Bank, at the height of financial expansion prior to the 2007 crisis, non-bank lenders had assets of about $25 billion and made up 8 percent of lending by financial institutions. By late 2013 the size of the finance sector was half its previous size and accounted for only 3 percent of institutional lending. Pamela Andrews
Pamela Jean Andrews is a retired New Zealand judge and lawyer. She served on the High Court of New Zealand from 2006 to 2015. Career Andrews graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with an LLB in 1983, having previously worked as a writer and journalist at the Consumers' Institute, and for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1968 and 1973. She worked at law firm Luke Cunningham and Clere, before joining Kensington Swan (later acquired by Dentons) in 1985 and being made a partner in 1988. Andrews served as a member of the Refugee Status Appeals Authority, resigning in 2006 upon her appointment to the High Court. She sat on the bench of the High Court in Auckland for nine years, until retiring in 2015. She then chaired the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal from May 2016 to 2019.
