Brian Walsh (ice Hockey)
Brian Walsh (Born November 6, 1954) is an American retired professional ice hockey player. Walsh played hockey at Matignon High School and became a star on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's ice hockey team, where he is the all-time leading scorer. Walsh also was a first team All American. He then played five games in the World Hockey Association with the Calgary Cowboys during the 1976–77 WHA season The 1976–77 WHA season was the fifth season of the World Hockey Association (WHA). The Calgary Cowboys were an ice hockey team that played two seasons in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1975–1977. The Cowboys played at the Stampede Corral in Calgary. The franchise was founded in 1972 as the Miami Screaming Eagles, though it never played a game in Miami. The team was based in Philadelphia and Vancouver, known in both markets as the ''Blazers'', before relocating to Calgary. The franchise folded in 1977. The Division I AHCA All-American Teams are an annual honor bestowed by the American Hockey Coaches Association to the college hockey players judged to be the top performers in their division. Each team is composed of at least one goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards on ice hockey programs. At least one all-star team has been named by the since the start of NCAA tournament play in 1947–48 after the conclusion of either the regular season or the conference tournaments. Initially the All-American teams weren't named by ACHA. in the first ten years of the teams the players were selected by some combination of media members and team officials. Michael Gordon Eaves (born June 10, 1956) is an American former National Hockey League (NHL) player and the former head coach of the St. Olaf College men's hockey team and for his alma mater the University of Wisconsin, where he was part of two NCAA National Championship teams with the Badgers (as a player in 1977, and as head coach in 2006). In 2019, he was named the head coach of the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL), a role he held until 2022. James Francis Warner (born March 26, 1954 in Saint Paul, Minnesota) is an American retired professional ice hockey forward who played 32 National Hockey League regular season games with the Hartford Whalers in 1979–80. Warner was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1974 NHL amateur draft but he chose instead to sign a free agent contract with the New England Whalers of the rival World Hockey Association in 1978. He appeared in 41 WHA regular season games with the Whalers in 1978–79 and was retained by the club when the NHL and WHA merged in 1979. The 1973–74 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 1973 and concluded with the 1974 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on March 16, 1974 at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. This was the 27th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 80th year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team. In the summer of 1973 the NCAA changed the classifications of the tiers in each of their sponsored sports. The University- and College-divisions were done away with and replaced by numerical designations making this the first official Division I season. The NIT held a competing ice hockey tournament for the first time. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association gives awards at the conclusion of each season. The current awards include Player of the Year, Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year, as well as the league leaders in points scoring and goaltending. In addition, several WCHA players have won the Hobey Baker Award for the nation's best college hockey player.
