Brian Harrison Walker is a scientist specialized in ecological sustainability and resilience in socio-ecological systems. Education and academic career Brian Walker began his scientific career in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), where his research was on ecosystem function and dynamics in tropical savannas and rangelands. He earned his Ph.D. in the University of Saskatchewan, in Canada in 1968. He was a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Rhodesia, Rhodesia from 1969 until 1975. After that he was a professor at the University of the Witwatersrand, before moving to Australia in 1985. There he became Chief of the former CSIRO Division of Wildlife and Ecology (now CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems) from 1985-1999. He has also made significant contributions to global change science. Brian Walker (born May 4, 1952) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (72nd overall) of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. Walker played major junior hockey with the Calgary Centennials of the Western Hockey League. Career Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft, Walker played professionally, mostly with the Fort Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League, but also with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Brian Follett Walker (born 5 September 1954) is an Australian politician. Walker was a medical practitioner before entering politics. At the 2021 Western Australian state election, Walker was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council as a Legalise Cannabis WA member for the East Metropolitan Region. His term commenced on 24 May 2021. Walker was born in Malaysia to Scottish parents, and was educated at Scotch College, Perth, prior to studying medicine at the University of Dundee.  Since graduating, he has since practiced medicine in Germany, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong, returning to Perth in 2008, to set up a specialist GP practice in the Perth Hills. Brian Walker is a toy inventor from Bend, Oregon who is known for attempting to build his own rocket and as the inventor of several toys, namely the air bazooka. His rocket is known as Project R.U.S.H., which stands for Rapid Up Super High. It was intended to be fueled by hydrogen peroxide and equipped with parachutes for use when landing. The goal of the project is to launch Walker 50 miles into the sky. He currently is waiting for approval to launch 20 miles in a rocket-propelled aircraft from the world's largest crossbow.
