Brian Smith (born September 19, 1990) is a former American football cornerback. He went undrafted during the 2013 NFL Draft, and signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. He played college football at Virginia Union University. Life and career High school career He attended Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he was named First-team All-Eastern District as a kick returner. College career Smith continued his football career at Virginia Union University. A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. They create turnovers through hard tackles, interceptions, and deflecting forward passes. Other members of the defensive backfield include strong and free safeties. The cornerback position requires speed, agility, strength, and the ability to make rapid sharp turns. Virginia Union University is a private historically black Baptist university in Richmond, Virginia. It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA. The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) was a professional indoor football league that played four seasons from 2012 to 2015.
