Brian Miller (footballer)
Brian George Miller (19 January 1937 – 7 April 2007) was a professional footballer and England international who played as a wing half. Born in Hapton, Lancashire, Miller played only for Burnley during his career. He won his only international cap on 27 May 1961 in a 3–1 defeat to Austria. He managed the Clarets between 1979 and 1983 and between 1986 and 1989. He helped them win the Third Division title during his first spell. Miller died peacefully surrounded by his family in Burnley General Hospital at the age of 70 following a short illness. Miller spent five weeks in Burnley General Hospital with the illness before he died. A minute's silence in memory of Miller was observed prior to Burnley's game against Cardiff City on 9 April 2007. During his first spell as manager at Burnley his son Dave played for Burnley and his daughter married club captain Derek Scott. Their sons, Chris and Paul, also pulled on the Claret shirt. Hapton, Lancashire
Hapton is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Burnley in Lancashire, England, west of Burnley, with a railway station on the East Lancashire Line. At the United Kingdom Census 2011, it had a population of 1,979. The parish adjoins the Burnley parishes of Dunnockshaw, Habergham Eaves and Padiham and Lowerhouse area of Burnley, the Hyndburn parish of Altham and Huncoat area of Accrington and the Loveclough area of Rossendale. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal and M65 motorway both pass through the village. History The name Hapton is thought to have been derived from the Old English words and meaning the enclosure on the hill. The civil parish of Hapton is thought to be the amalgamation of three medieval manors. Hapton is linked to the original castle and village that would later develop near it. 1962 FA Cup Final
The 1962 FA Cup Final took place on 5 May 1962 at Wembley Stadium and was won by Tottenham Hotspur over Burnley, by a 3–1 scoreline. Due to the lack of passion and excitement, replaced by patience and cautious play, the final was dubbed "The Chessboard Final". Tottenham were the holders, having won the League and FA Cup Double the previous season. They had finished the 1962 league campaign in third place. Burnley finished runners-up in the league that season, behind Ipswich Town.
