Brian McBride
Brian Robert McBride (born June 19, 1972) is an American former soccer player who played as a forward for Columbus Crew, Fulham and Chicago Fire. He is the fifth-highest all-time leading goalscorer for the United States national team. For much of his career, he played in United States with stints in both Germany and England. During his time at Fulham, McBride became a fan favorite, as well as team captain. He was eventually voted "Player of the Season" two times. After leaving the club, they renamed the sports bar at Craven Cottage ''McBride's'' in his honor. Early career High school Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, McBride played varsity soccer at Buffalo Grove High School, under coach John Erfort, where he led the Bison to the Illinois state championship in 1988, his junior year. Brian McBride (musician)
Brian Edward McBride (born 1970 in Irving, Texas) is a musician best known as one half of the duo Stars of the Lid. He has also released two solo albums, ''When The Detail Lost Its Freedom'' and ''The Effective Disconnect'' on Kranky using his own name. McBride moved to Austin, Texas in 1990 where he met Adam Wiltzie, forming Stars of the Lid in the early 1990s. He also worked with the now defunct Pilot Ships. He lives in Los Angeles with his cats ("Ead" and "Nadine", presumably named after the characters in Twin Peaks, of which he is a fan). He is an active member of the policy debate community. In 2009 Brian teamed up with musician Kenneth James Gibson to form the band Bell Gardens. Their first EP ''Hangups Need Company'' was released on their own imprint Failed Better in 2010. Brian McBride (born 1955) is a UK businessman, who was appointed President of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in June 2022. Early life Born in Glasgow on 15 October 1955, Brian McBride grew up in a council home along with his seven siblings, his mother (a nurse) and his father (a teacher). He attended the neighbourhood public school, Lourdes Secondary, before going on to Glasgow University, where he earned a degree in Economic History and Politics. Career McBride began his career in business by selling photocopiers for Xerox in Glasgow. He later worked for IBM both in the UK and in the USA, before being approached by Michael Dell, who hired him to oversee Dell's activities in the UK and Northern Europe. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) is a UK business organisation, which in total claims to speak for 190,000 businesses, this is made up of around 1,500 direct members and 188,500 non-members. The non members are represented through the 140 trade associations within the confederation, whose separate and individual memberships the CBI claims to also to speak for. Trade Association member companies, are not directly consulted or involved in CBI's policy formulation. The National Farmers' Union with its 55,000 members is the largest component of the 188,500 non-members the CBI claims to speak for.
