Brian Mayberry
Brian A. Mayberry (March 8, 1938 - July 20, 1998) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer noted as a top race conditioner of two-year-olds. Mayberry was the son of a trainer and the grandson of John P. Mayberry who saddled Judge Himes to win the 1903 Kentucky Derby. Brian Mayberry never started a horse in the Derby but on the day before the big race in 1994, he won the prestigious Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs with Sardula Sardula (May 4, 1991 – February 1, 1995) was an American Thoroughbred racemare who, as a two-year-old in 1993 finished second by a nose in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies then won the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet Stakes. The Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in early July at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. Open to two-year-old horses, the Graded stakes race, Grade III event is contested on synthetic over a distance of six furlongs. Prior to 2007, the race was contested on dirt. Its first winner was the filly, Unerring, American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly in 1939. Ashland Stakes
The Ashland Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in early April at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, United States. It and the Ashland Oaks, the Kentucky Association racetrack's predecessor race, were named for Ashland, the homestead and breeding farm of statesman Henry Clay in Lexington, Kentucky. Restricted to three-year-olds fillies the race is currently run at a distance of one and one-sixteenth miles. The Sorrento Stakes is a Grade II American Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old fillies over a distance of six furlongs on the dirt track scheduled annually in August at Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California.
