Brian Langford
Brian Anthony Langford (17 December 1935 – 12 February 2013) was an English first-class cricket, first-class cricketer who played as an off-spin bowler for Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset. He captained the county from 1969 until 1971 and his career tally of 1390 wickets ranks him third in the county's history, behind only Jack White (cricketer, born 1891), Jack White and Arthur Wellard. Langford made his debut for Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset in 1953 English cricket season, 1953 at the Recreation Ground, Bath with an unremarkable appearance against Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire, taking just one wicket in an innings and 24 run loss. Brian Close
Dennis Brian Close, (24 February 1931 – 13 September 2015) was an English first-class cricketer. He was picked to play against New Zealand in July 1949, when he was 18 years old. Close went on to play 22 Test matches for England, captaining them seven times to six wins and one drawn test. Close also captained Yorkshire to four county championship titles – the main domestic trophy in English cricket. He later went on to captain Somerset, where he is widely credited with developing the county into a hard-playing team, and helping to mould Viv Richards and Ian Botham into the successful players they became. Somerset County Cricket Club are an English cricket club based in Taunton, Somerset. The club was founded in 1875 after a match between "Gentlemen of Somerset" and "Gentlemen of Devon" in Sidmouth, Devon. Somerset played their first undisputed first-class cricket match in 1882 against Lancashire. After missing the first season of the official County Championship, Somerset were admitted for the second in 1891, and have participated in the competition ever since. Roy Kerslake
Roy Cosmo Kerslake (born 26 December 1942) is a former English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Cambridge University and Somerset, and captained Somerset for one season in 1968. More recently he has been prominent as a cricket administrator, serving as president of Somerset County Cricket Club from 2004 to 2015. He was born at Paignton in Devon. Early career Kerslake was a middle to lower order right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. Educated at Kingswood School, Bath, where he topped the batting and bowling averages in 1961, he played for Somerset's second eleven in the Minor Counties that season, being part of the team that won the Minor Counties Championship for the first time. Essex County Cricket Club
Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. The NatWest Pro40 League was a one-day cricket league for first-class cricket counties in England and Wales. It was inaugurated in 1999, but was essentially the old Sunday League retitled to reflect large numbers of matches being played on days other than Sunday. Sunday League The Sunday League was launched in 1969, as the second one-day competition in England and Wales alongside the Gillette Cup (launched in 1963). Sponsored by John Player & Sons, the league was called John Player's County League (1969), the John Player League (1970–83), then the John Player Special League (1984–86). James Alexander Russell Harris (born 16 May 1990) is a Welsh professional cricketer who was born at Morriston, (a Swansea suburb) in South Wales. Harris is a right arm fast bowler and right-handed batsman who represented Glamorgan (2007-2012) and Middlesex (2013-2021). The County Championship (referred to as the LV= Insurance County Championship for sponsorship reasons) is the domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales and is organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It became an official title in 1890. The competition consists of eighteen clubs named after, and representing historic counties, seventeen from England and one from Wales.
