Brian Farmer
Frederick Brian Webb Farmer (29 July 1933 – 1 June 2014) was an English professional footballer who made 249 appearances in the Football League for Birmingham City and Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic. He played at right back. Born in Wordsley, Staffordshire, Farmer joined Birmingham City in 1950 as an amateur when he was 17. He turned professional in 1954 and made his first-team debut in 1956, but was used only as cover when Jeff Hall or Ken Green were injured or on international duty. He became a first-team regular following Hall's death in 1959, but lost his place to new signing Stan Lynn some two-and-a-half years later. He left the club in January 1962 having made 145 appearances in all competitions, of which 117 were in the First Division. Wordsley
Wordsley is a suburban area of Stourbridge in the West Midlands, England. It is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley and falls into the Stourbridge (DY8) postcode and address area, being just north of the River Stour. Wordsley is part of the Dudley South Parliamentary constituency. It is bordered by open countryside to the west, Kingswinford to the North, Brierley Hill to the East and Stourbridge to the South. History Wordsley lies in the far south of the historic boundaries of Staffordshire and, with neighbouring Amblecote, it is one of several urban villages just north of the River Stour that forms the historic border with the county of Worcestershire to the south. 1960 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final
The 1960 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final was an association football match played over two legs between Barcelona of Spain and Birmingham City of England. The first leg was played at St Andrew's, Birmingham, on 29 March 1960, and the second leg was played on 4 May at the Camp Nou, Barcelona. It was the final of the second edition of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, an invitational competition open to teams representing host cities of industrial trade fairs. Birmingham were the first English club side to appear in a European final. Barcelona had beaten the London XI in the inaugural final in 1958, having needed a replay to eliminate Birmingham in the semi-final. AFC Bournemouth () is a professional association football club based in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the highest division of English club football. Formed in 1899 as Boscombe, the club adopted their current name in 1971. Aston is an area of inner Birmingham, England. Located immediately to the north-east of Central Birmingham, Aston constitutes a ward within the metropolitan authority. It is approximately 1.5 miles from Birmingham City Centre. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities.
