Brian Cyr
Brian Cyr (born June 30, 1956) is a Canadian-American former professional darts player who competed in events of the British Darts Organisation (BDO). Career Cyr is a two-time winner of the Canadian National Championship in 1999 and 2006. The latter title earned him a spot in the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship where he beat Barrie Bates to reach the second round in which he lost to Rico Vonck. Cyr is a winner of the 2013 PEI Potato Open Men's Singles Champion where he beats Stephen Clements. "New Orleans Is Sinking" is a song by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip. It was released in November 1989 as the second single from the band's first full-length studio album, ''Up to Here''. The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as the Hip, were a Canadian rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario in 1984, consisting of vocalist Gord Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker (known as Bobby Baker until 1994), bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. They released 13 studio albums, one live album, one EP, and over 50 singles over a 33-year career. Nine of their albums have reached No. 1 on the Canadian charts. World Masters (darts)
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. 2007 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2007 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship was the 14th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The tournament took place between 18 December 2006 – 1 January 2007. The championship was once again held at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex, where it had been staged since the first PDC World Championship in 1994. However, it would turn out to be the last time the tournament would be held at the Tavern: in April 2007, the PDC announced that the event would be moving to Alexandra Palace from 2008. This was the fifth year of Ladbrokes' sponsorship deal, with the tournament prize fund now at a record £500,000. 2008 US Open (darts)
The 2008 US Open is the second year of a darts tournament, organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was played at the Mohegan Sun, Mohegan Sun Casino Resort, Connecticut, United States, USA between May 16 and May 18, 2008. Phil Taylor (darts player), Phil Taylor successfully defended his title. Television coverage and format The event was broadcast on Nuts TV in the UK from the last 16 onwards. The tournament was open to Professional Dart Players Association, PDPA members and citizens and Green Card holders from the USA and Canada. The elimination tournament was played down to the last 16 on the Friday and the last 16 played off on Saturday. The quarter-finals onwards took place on Sunday. British Darts Organisation
The British Darts Organisation (BDO) was a darts organisation founded on 7 January 1973 by Olly Croft. Made up of 66 member counties, it oversaw professional, semi-professional and amateur darts competitions in Britain. The BDO was a founder member of the World Darts Federation in 1976. It also staged a BDO World Darts Championship, World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 to 2020. In the early 1990s, a dispute between Olly Croft and the top darts players over the decline in TV coverage and sponsorship led to an acrimonious Split in darts, split in the game, with the players breaking away to form their own governing body which became the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Barrie Bates
Barrie Bates (born 17 October 1969) is a former Welsh darts player who played on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit. His original nickname was Batesy, but since 2007, he was known as Champagne. Career Bates made his PDC televised debut at the 2003 UK Open reaching the third round. In 2005 he narrowly lost a last-32 match to Lionel Sams at the UK Open and made a superb run to the final in 2006 before losing to Raymond van Barneveld. He made a great impression on the circuit in 2006, winning the John Smiths Singles in February and May's Le Skratch Sarantos Retsinas Memorial event in Montreal. Rico Vonck
Rico Vonck (born 12 March 1987) is a Dutch former darts player. Career Vonck qualified for the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship, having finished second in the Dutch Darts Federation (DDF) rankings. Michael van Gerwen had finished top of the list, but opted to play in the 2007 BDO World Darts Championship, BDO version instead. Vonck was only 19 years old when he won his place at the Circus Tavern. He won his first round match against world number 16 Mark Walsh (darts player), Mark Walsh, who was suffering from dartitis at the time.
