Brian Thomas Burke (born 25 February 1947) is an Australian former politician who was the 23rd premier of Western Australia from 25 February 1983 to his resignation on 25 February 1988. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 30 March 1973 to 25 February 1988, representing the electoral districts of Balga and Balcatta at various points, and was the leader of the Australian Labor Party in Western Australia from 18 September 1981 to 25 February 1988. Burke studied law at the University of Western Australia for one year before dropping out. During the 1960s and early 1970s, he worked as a journalist for ''The West Australian'' newspaper, 6PM radio station, and Seven News Perth. He was elected to Parliament at the 1973 Balcatta state by-election, becoming one of the most popular local members over the following years. Brian Burke (born April 19, 1958) is an American State Public Defender in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Previously he was a state legislator. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Burke graduated from Washington High School (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) in 1975 and Marquette University in 1978. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1981 from Georgetown University Law Center. In 1984, he was elected to the Milwaukee Common Council. Brian P. Burke (born June 30, 1955) is an American-Canadian ice hockey executive and former analyst serving as president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also served as the general manager of the Hartford Whalers, Vancouver Canucks, Anaheim Ducks (with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2007) and Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as president of hockey operations for the Calgary Flames. Burke was also the general manager for the United States national men's ice hockey team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and is a member of Rugby Canada's board of directors. Brian Burke (Gaelic Footballer)
Brian Burke is an Irish retired Gaelic footballer who played as a midfielder for the Tipperary senior team. From Fethard, Co. Tipperary. Burke first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team before later joining the under-21 and junior sides. Burke made his senior debut during the 1985 championship and played at inter-county level for Tipperary for 13 years. He has won five Tipperary Senior Football Championship medals with his club, Fethard. He represented Ireland against Australia in the 1990 International Rules Series. He retired from inter-county football following the conclusion of the 1998 championship. In retirement from playing Burke became involved in team management and coaching.
