Brian Austin
Brian Douglas Austin (born 22 March 1943) is an Australian politician and Minister of Health (1980–1983 and 1983 - 1986) and Minister for Finance and Minister Assisting the Premier and Treasurer (1987 - 1989) and who represented the state seat of Wavell for the Liberal Party (1977–1983) and then for the National Party (1983–1986). In 1983, Austin switched to the National Party (along with Don Lane, who was the Transport Minister, after Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen lobbied several Liberals to cross the floor, thus enabling the National Party to form government with a very slim majority. Prior to their defection, the Nationals were one seat short of governing in their own right. At the 1986 Queensland state election, Austin became the first MP for the new Queensland electorate of Nicklin (1986–1989). Fitzgerald Inquiry
The Commission of Inquiry into Possible Illegal Activities and Associated Police Misconduct (the Fitzgerald Inquiry; 1987–1989) into Queensland Police corruption was a judicial inquiry presided over by Tony Fitzgerald QC. The inquiry resulted in the resignation of Queensland's premier, Joh Bjelke-Petersen, the calling of two by-elections, the jailing of three former ministers and the Police Commissioner (who also lost his knighthood). It also contributed to the end of the National Party of Australia's 32-year run as the governing political party in Queensland. Neville Harper
Neville John Harper (born 10 September 1926) is an Australian former politician. Life and career Harper was born in Brisbane on 10 September 1926, to Neville Barclay Harper and Hazel Jane, ''née'' Gardner. He attended New Farm and Nundah State Schools and then Brisbane Grammar School (1940–44) before becoming a grazier, farmer and real estate valuer. On 12 November 1949 he married Marjorie Pointon, with whom he had two daughters. From 1945 to 1947 he served in the Royal Australian Navy as a sub-lieutenant aboard HMAS ''Hawkesbury'' before returning to manage cattle properties in Barmundu and Kingaroy. In 1952 he was appointed manager of Mactaggarts station in Cunnamulla. Harper was a member of the National Party, and served as chairman of the Wandoan branch. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. Lionel William "Lin" Powell (born 10 March 1939) is a former Australian politician. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for Isis. Early life Powell was born in Maryborough to Lionel Mitchell Powell and Helen Irene, ''née'' West. Lin Powell is a great-grandson of Native Police officer Walter David Taylor Powell. He was educated at state schools in Bundaberg and then at Brisbane State High School. After studying at Kelvin Grove Teachers College and the University of Queensland, he became a schoolteacher. Leisha Teresa Harvey (née Piasecki, born 4 April 1947) is a former Australian politician. She was a National Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1983 to 1989, representing the electorate of Greenslopes. Clayfield is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Clayfield had a population of 10,555 people. Geography Clayfield is by road from the Brisbane GPO.
