August Brey
August Brey (1 August 1864 – 28 July 1937) was a German politician and trade unionist. Born in Gelnhausen, Brey completed an apprenticeship as a shoemaker, and joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1885. In 1890, he was a leading founder of the Union of Factory, Agricultural and Commercial Support Workers in Germany (FAV), a general union, and became its president. From 1892, he was also the editor of the union's newspaper, ''Der Proletariat''. Elizabeth Evadna Brey (November 23, 1931 – March 21, 2015), née Elizabeth Evadna Mullen, was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.Sports-Reference.com, Olympic Sports, Athletes Betty Brey Retrieved January 27, 2013. Carter Brey
Carter Brey (born 1954) is an American cello virtuoso. He had a prolific solo career from 1981 until 1996 when he became the principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic, a position he still holds today. Biography Carter Brey was born in Montclair, New Jersey and grew up in Westchester County, New York. He began playing the violin at age 9 and the cello at age 12 in school, although he did not seriously consider becoming a professional musician until he was 16. He studied under Laurence Lesser and Stephen Kates at Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Institute and later with Aldo Parisot at Yale University, where he was a Wardell Fellow and a Houpt Scholar. He taught at the University of South Florida in between his time at Peabody and Yale. In 1979 he joined the Cleveland Orchestra where he played for two seasons. Claire Du Brey
Claire Du Brey (born Clara Violet Dubreyvich, August 31, 1892 – August 1, 1993) was an American actress. She appeared in more than 200 films between 1916 and 1959. Her name is sometimes rendered as Claire Du Bray or as Claire Dubrey. Early years Du Brey was born in Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, to an ethnic Croat father from Dalmatia (who anglicized his name to Matthew Dubrey before his marriage), and an Irish-American mother, Lilly (née Henry), later Mrs. Richard Fugitt. Her parents married on November 9, 1891 in Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho. She was raised Catholic and attended a convent school. Du Brey "had trained as a nurse". Michael Paul Brey (born March 22, 1959) is an American college basketball coach. He has been the men's head coach at the University of Notre Dame since July 14, 2000. Early life and education Brey, the son of Olympic swimmer Betty Brey, graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland in 1977. As a two-year letter winner under coach Morgan Wootten, Brey helped the team to a 55–9 mark. He enrolled at Northwestern State University, where he played varsity basketball for three years (1977–1980). Patrick de Carvalho Brey (born 5 June 1997), simply known as Patrick Brey, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Brazilian club Botafogo-SP, on loan from Triestina.
