Brevator Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota
Brevator Township is a township in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,269 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highway 2 and State Highway 33 ( MN 33) are two of the main routes in the township. Highway 2 runs east–west through the northern portion of the township. Highway 33 runs north–south through the eastern portion of the township. A portion of Brevator Township is located within the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of ; is land and , or 3.14%, is water. The Saint Louis River and the White Pine River both flow through Brevator Township. Cloquet, Minnesota
Cloquet ( ) is a city in Carlton County, Minnesota, United States, at the junction of Interstate 35 and Minnesota State Highway 33. Part of the city lies within the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation and serves as one of the reservation's three administrative centers. The population was 12,568 at the 2020 census. History Cloquet began as a group of small settlements around three sawmills: Shaw Town, Nelson Town, and Johnson Town. These became known as Knife Falls after a local waterfall over sharp slate rocks, and later as Cloquet. The Ojibwe in the area called the area ''Mookomaan-onigamiing'', meaning "At the Knife Portage", as the portage to avoid Knife Falls connected the three communities. The area was platted in 1883 and the village of Cloquet was incorporated from the three settlements in 1884. It became a city with a mayor and city council in 1904. Carlton County is a county in the State of Minnesota, formed in 1857. As of the 2020 census, the population was 36,207. Its county seat is Carlton. Part of the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation lies in northeastern Carlton County. Carlton County is part of the Duluth, MN- WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Carlton County lies on Minnesota's eastern edge. Its eastern boundary abuts Wisconsin. The Saint Louis River flows east-southeast through the county, discharging into Lake Superior.
