Brett Scott
Brett Scott (born 10 April 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Sydney Swans, Sydney Football Club in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League during the 1980s. Scott played his early football with The Rock, New South Wales, The Rock-Yerong Creek, New South Wales, Yerong Creek before being recruited to South Melbourne and making his league debut in 1981. The following year the club relocated to Sydney and he took part in the inaugural game for their new city. Injuries restricted his appearances over the years and when he finished in 1989 he had managed just 59 senior games. After Gary Buckenara was sacked as Sydney's coach in 1993, Scott acted as a caretaker coach for two games. The Rock, New South Wales
The Rock is a town with a population of 1,236, in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales, Australia, in Lockhart Shire. It is south-west of Wagga Wagga on the Olympic Highway. The town is named after the large rocky hill overlooking the town, now called ''The Rock Hill'' but called ''Yerong'' in the local indigenous language. The reserve that includes The Rock Hill is an attraction in the area for bush-walking, rock-climbing, and observation of wildlife. It is also an Aboriginal sacred site, called ''Kengal''. 1988 VFL Draft
The 1988 VFL draft, held on the 9th of November 1988, was the third annual national draft held by the VFL/AFL, Victorian Football League (now known as the Australian Football League). Sydney Swans
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club's origins trace back to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel in South Melbourne to establishing a junior football club, to be called the South Melbourne Football Club. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Gary William Buckenara (born 3 July 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Renowned for his superb high marking and kicking skills, whether passing to teammates or shooting for goal, as well as his performances in "big games", Buckenara is one of a handful of footballers to be named in two separate Teams of the Century, both on the half-forward flank.
