Brett Martin (squash Player)
Brett Martin (born 23 January 1963) is a former professional squash player who was among the game's leading players in the late-1980s and early-1990s. Brett was part of the winning Australian team at the 1989 Men's World Team Squash Championships and 1991 Men's World Team Squash Championships and was also a runner-up in the 1993 Men's World Team Squash Championships. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 2 in 1994. Martin comes from one of squash's most successful families. Squash (sport)
Squash is a racket-and- ball sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow, rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. The objective of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. There are about 20 million people who play squash regularly world-wide in over 185 countries. The governing body of Squash, the World Squash Federation (WSF), is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), but the sport is not part of the Olympic Games, despite a number of applications. Rodney Martin (squash Player)
Rodney Martin (born 17 October 1965) is an Australian former professional squash player, who is best known for winning the 1991 World Open and becoming the first player to defeat Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan in the same event. After retiring as a player due to injury, he became a squash coach, working in Australia and the United States. Biography Martin comes from one of squash's most successful families. His older brother Brett Martin and younger sister Michelle Martin were also top professional players. He grew up in the Sydney suburb of Engadine, where his parents built the local squash centre under their family home. He moved to Brisbane in his early teens and went to school at Everton Park State High School in Brisbane. Michelle Susan Martin, OAM (born 29 April 1967) is an Australian former professional squash player who was one of the game's leading players in the 1990s. She was ranked number one in the world from 1993 to 1996 and again in 1998 and 1999, and won three World Open titles and six British Open titles. Biography and career Martin was born on 29 April 1967 in Sydney, as the fourth of six children. Her older brothers Brett and Rodney also went on to be top professional players. Her parents, who had built the Engadine Squash Centre below their family home, introduced her to the game when she was three years old. She would often play squash with her family after school, and at the age of eight, she came second in the state under-13s championship.
