Brett Custer
Brett Steven Custer (born 1 April 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography Custer, the son of Noel and Dawn, grew up in the Sydney suburb of Normanhurst. His family are distant relatives of the famed General Custer. As a junior he held national titles in the Under 12, 14, 16 and 18 categories. Custer, who left school to focus on his burgeoning tennis career, was nurtured by John Newcombe and Tony Roche as part of the Custom Credit Operation scheme. While still only 15 he featured in the men's doubles draw at the 1983 Australian Open with fellow junior David Macpherson. The same pair would team up to win the boys' doubles event at the 1985 Australian Open, having been losing finalists the previous year. Johan Kriek
Johan Christiaan Kriek (born April 5, 1958) is a South African-American retired tennis player and founder of the Global Water Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering clean water to the world's neediest communities. He won two Australian Open titles and reached the semifinals at the French Open and US Open, as well as the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. Kriek won 14 professional singles and eight doubles titles, reaching a career-high singles ranking of world No. 7 in September 1984. The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Later professional promoters, such as Bill Tilden and Jack Kramer, often convinced leading amateurs like Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver to join their tours with promises of good prize money. Mats Wilander
Mats Arne Olof Wilander (; born 22 August 1964) is a Swedish former world No. 1 tennis player. From 1982 to 1988, he won seven major singles titles (three at the French Open, three at the Australian Open, and one at the US Open), and one major men's doubles title (at Wimbledon). His breakthrough came suddenly and unexpectedly when he won the 1982 French Open at the age of 17. In 1988, Wilander won three of the four singles majors and finished the year ranked as the world No. 1. Although he never won the singles title at Wimbledon, Wilander twice won the Australian Open when it was played on grass courts. Joakim "Jocke" Nyström (born 20 February 1963) is a former top ten ranked tennis player from Sweden who won 13 singles titles during his professional career. Shahar Perkiss (born 14 October 1962) is an Israeli right-handed former professional tennis player. He reached his best singles ranking of world # 53 in March 1985. He peaked at world # 54 in the doubles rankings in November 1985. Perkiss won the silver medal in singles in tennis at the 1989 Maccabiah Games, but won the gold medal in doubles playing alongside Boaz Merenstein. Shlomo Glickstein ( he, שלמה גליקשטיין; born 6 January 1958) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. He reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 22 in November 1982, and his career-high doubles ranking of World No. 28 in February 1986. Early and personal life Glickstein was born in Rehovot, Israel, lives in Ashkelon, Israel, and is Jewish. His parents immigrated to Israel from Poland. He served in the Israel Defense Forces for three years, from the ages of 18 to 21, rising to the rank of sergeant. Cyril Suk III (born 29 January 1967) is a former professional tennis player. A doubles specialist, Suk won five Grand Slam titles, one men's doubles and four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles and 32 ATP Tour doubles titles during his career.
