Brett Cook
Brett Cook (born 19 April 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Fitzroy Football Club and St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League. He was taken at pick 20 in the 1991 AFL Draft by Fitzroy but had to wait until 1994 before he made his AFL debut. Following the end of Fitzroy's time in the AFL in 1996, he moved to St Kilda in 1997, where he became best known as the replacement ruckman in the 1997 AFL Finals Series in the absence of Peter Everitt and Lazar Vidovic. Cook played in 6 of 22 matches in the 1997 season home and away rounds in which St Kilda qualified in first position for the 1997 AFL Finals Series, winning the club's 2nd Minor Premiership and 1st McClelland Trophy. He was delisted by the Saints at the end of the 1999 season. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. The decision of the club to change its nickname to the Lions in 1957 coincided with what history now records as the beginning of decades of poor on-field performance and financial losses that eventually resulted in the club being placed into administration, ultimately leaving the AFL at the end of the 1996 season. Lazar Vidovic
Lazar Vidovic (born 1 April 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Although originally from Coolaroo, he was recruited from Castlemaine and debuted in 1989 with St Kilda. He missed the 1990 season with a knee injury but returned in 1991. Vidovic played in St Kilda's 1996 AFL Ansett Australia Cup winning side. Vidovic played in 7 of 22 matches in the 1997 season home and away rounds in which St Kilda qualified in first position for the 1997 final series, winning the club's 2nd minor premiership and 1st McClelland Trophy. In 1997, he played with the Saints as a backup ruckman when Peter Everitt suffered an injury, but he injured his knee again during the finals series, leaving Brett Cook as the number one ruckman for the 1997 AFL Grand Final. The Coburg Football Club, nicknamed the Coburg Lions, is an Australian rules football club based in Coburg, a northern suburb of Melbourne, and currently playing in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The Riddell District Football Netball League (RDFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria, Australia. The RDFNL covers towns in the Macedon Ranges and an area from Rockbank in the south to Broadford in the north. The league also runs junior competitions from Under 10 to Under 18 age groups. Kyneton, Victoria
Kyneton ( ) is a town in the Macedon Ranges region of Victoria, Australia. The Calder Freeway bypasses Kyneton to the north and east. Kyneton is on Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country. The town has four main streets: Mollison Street, Main street, Piper Street and High Street. Peter Everitt
Peter "Spida" Everitt (born 3 May 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club, Hawthorn Football Club and Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played for St Kilda from 1993 to 2002, Hawthorn from 2003 to 2006, and Sydney in 2007 and 2008. He finished his career having played 291 games in the AFL. 1997 AFL Season
The 1997 AFL season was the 101st season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season ran from 27 March until 27 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. Before the season, the Port Adelaide Football Club (SANFL) was admitted to the league, increasing the South Australian membership to two clubs. Foundation club Fitzroy, which had gone into administration in 1996, merged with the Brisbane Bears to form a new Queensland-based club known as the Brisbane Lions.
