Brett Bowey
Brett Bowey (born 31 May 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Bowey, who was recruited locally, shared his VFL debut with future club great Robert Harvey and kicked two goals. A rover, he was a regular fixture in the St Kilda team in 1989 and 1990, putting together 19 games in each season. After making just four appearances in 1991, Bowey amassed a career-high 482 disposals in the 1992 AFL season, at an average of 22.95 a game. He also took part in St Kilda's finals series and had 27 disposals in their win over Collingwood. After a season with Victorian Football League (VFL) club Frankston, Bowey finished his career at the Chelsea Football Club in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League and played well into his 30s. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Robert Harvey (footballer)
Robert Jeffrey Harvey (born 21 August 1971) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League. As a player he played his entire career with the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League. He was previously the interim head coach of the Collingwood Football Club. 1992 AFL Season
The 1992 AFL season was the 96th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured fifteen clubs, ran from 21 March until 26 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs. Prior to the season, the AFL ceased its role as the administrative body for football in Victoria after 95 years: this role was transferred, along with control of the reserves competition, to the newly established Victorian State Football League (VSFL). Subsequently, the Victorian AFL clubs' under-19s competition was dissolved, and zone-based recruiting was abolished. Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League
The Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (abbreviated "MPNFL") is an Australian rules football competition, governed by the AFL South East. The MPNFL contains teams near the south eastern region of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. At the end of the 2017 season, the competition was restructured from a geographical to a divisional structure, with promotion/ relegation. The Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL) was the oldest and largest Australian rules football league for women in the world, consisting of 47 clubs from Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia, across seven divisions and a total of over 1,000 players. Jake Bowey (born 12 September 2002) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Bowey is the son of former St Kilda player Brett Bowey. Bowey participated in the Auskick program at the Highett Football Club. He went on to play junior and senior football with the club and under 18 football with the Sandringham in the NAB League. He was educated at Cheltenham Secondary College.
