Brett Baty
Brett Austin Baty (born November 13, 1999) is an American professional baseball third baseman for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Mets selected Baty in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Baty attended Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, where he played basketball, baseball, and football. As a senior, he hit .615 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs. He was named the Gatorade Texas Baseball Player of the Year. He committed to play college baseball at the University of Texas. Professional career Baty was selected by the New York Mets in the first round (12th overall) of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He signed for $3.9 million and was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Mets. After five games, he was promoted to the Kingsport Mets before being promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones. A third baseman, abbreviated 3B, is the player in baseball or softball whose responsibility is to defend the area nearest to third base — the third of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The All-Star Futures Game is an annual baseball exhibition game hosted by Major League Baseball (MLB) in conjunction with the mid-summer MLB All-Star Game. A team of American League-affiliated prospects competes against a team of National League-affiliated prospects. Brooklyn Cyclones
The Brooklyn Cyclones are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets. They are based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, and play at Maimonides Park, just off the Coney Island Boardwalk. From their founding in 2001 through 2020, the Cyclones competed in the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League (NYPL). Brooklyn won six division titles and two NYPL championships. Kingsport Mets
The Kingsport Mets were a Minor League Baseball team of the Appalachian League from 1921 to 2020. They were located in Kingsport, Tennessee, and were last named for the team's major league affiliate, the New York Mets. The team played its home games at Hunter Wright Stadium which opened in 1995. The Mets previously played at Dobyns-Bennett High School. In 1983, while Dobyns-Bennett's field was being renovated, the team temporarily moved to Sarasota, Florida, and played in the Gulf Coast League as the Gulf Coast League Mets. The New York ''Daily News'', officially titled the ''Daily News'', is an American newspaper based in Jersey City, NJ. The Florida Complex League Mets are a Rookie-level affiliate for the New York Mets, competing in the Florida Complex League of Minor League Baseball. 2019 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2019 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft was held from June 3 to 5, 2019. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The draft order was set based on the reverse order of the 2018 MLB season standings.
