Brereton Hall
Brereton Hall is an Elizabethan prodigy house north of Brereton Green, next to St Oswald's Church in the civil parish of Brereton, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. Brereton is not open to the public. History Early history The manor of "Bretune" is listed in Domesday Book, held by the Baron of Kinderton, Gilbert Venables. The name "Brereton''"'' itself comes from the Old English for an "enclosure among the briars". The Breretons Sir William Brereton (1550–1631) built the house in 1586, with this date appearing over the entrance. Although the architect is unknown, Sir William modelled the house entirely on Rocksavage – the country home of his guardian Sir John Savage, and Savage's daughter, Margaret – whom Brereton would later marry. Brereton, Staffordshire
Brereton is a civil parish and village in the Cannock Chase District in Staffordshire, England. At the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 6,524, increasing to 6,538 at the 2011 Census. History The village was previously a mining community, with several mines in the Brereton area. The Leahall Mine was the largest and last to close of the local mines, all of which have now ceased to operate. Recently part of the mine area has been redeveloped as the Towers Business Park, set around the Towers Point building. A 2,300-home housing development is now planned for the Leahall site. In the village There are several churches within the village. The Brereton Methodist Church, built in 1809, was the first church building in Brereton. There is also the Church of St. Michael's (Church of England). Baron Brereton
Baron Brereton, of Leighlin in the County of Carlow, was a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created on 11 May 1624 for Sir William Brereton, of Brereton, Cheshire. William Brereton was from an old and distinguished family in Cheshire, and the family seat was Brereton Hall in Cheshire, however Brereton had an estate near Old Leighlin, for which he and his heirs were absentee landlords. The first Lord Brereton was succeeded by his grandson, the second Lord Brereton. He was the son of Sir John Brereton (1591–1629), fourth son of the first Baron. He sat as Member of Parliament for Cheshire. His son, the third Baron, was one of the founders of the Royal Society. Two of his sons, the fourth and fifth Barons, succeeded in the title. It became extinct on the latter's death without issue in 1722. The estates passed to the Holte family, descended from the second Baron's sister. Karachi Grammar School ( ur, ) is an independent, English-medium school located in 3 different campuses across Karachi. The main and oldest campus is located in Saddar, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is a highly selective, coeducational day school (formerly day/boarding school) serving approximately 2,400 students aged between three and nineteen years.
